I've been using on my home machine and it's a fine product. I recommend it.

A fine product. I have installed it on 2 machines at home and no complaints. Thank you Sophos!

Lion Tweaks

technically speaking, Enable/Disable the library folder is incorrect.

you could enable/disable finder visibility, or show/hide the library folder.

the library folder is there, whether you can see it in the finder or not.

Local Admin
Flying_Meat commented on 20 Jul 2007
Not to nitpick, but this would have been a bit easier to use if the list of potential admin users was a text file.
That way, the main admin doesn't have to delve into Directory services just to add a potential admin user.

Just add the name to the text file.

I can see where this might be of use to some folks out there in the wild. Cool idea. :)

Microsoft Office 2008

Flying_Meat reviewed on 12 Jul 2007
Installed (after figuring out a whacky bug with autoupdater) without problem.

Launched Word. No problem. Are there new icons in the document templates window? Seems like it...

Launched Excel. No Problem.

Apple Mac OS X

Flying_Meat reviewed on 13 Mar 2007
GNU tar was not updated. I'm still showing 1.14 as opposed to the advertised 1.15
Otherwise, seems fine...

Fan Control

Flying_Meat reviewed on 25 Oct 2006
I think this software is absolutely awesome. It seems like a no brainer for Apple to provide something like this in it's future OS products under the Energy Saver preferences or something.

Thanks Lobotomo! You deserve to be compensated for this one. :)

I do not know if there are risks associated with setting the sliders incorrectly (or if that's even a possibility, since I'm not likely to try that ;) ) so that is the reason for the, perhaps harsh, 4 star in Ease of Use. :P :)

Using an early (mat screen) MacBook Pro.

Apple Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update
Flying_Meat commented on 19 Sep 2006
yeah... um, I'd have to guess that the fans will make the MacBook Pro run cooler, but that would only be a guess since it doesn't actually say "what" fan behavior specifically would be modified.

Cripes! A new level of vagueness. Perhaps next time they won't even mention what the update is for.

Maybe next time it'll just say "Firmware." with no description at all?

What Cyber said!
Yes, I think this is a really nice alternative to the Microsloth product, but wait! "There's one more thing."
Apple's Remote Desktop admin software (ARD) installs as "Remote Desktop." You might want to change the name to something that's less likely to cause someone to accidentally overwrite their other software. :P

Still, this is very nice as a .1 product. Keep up the great work! :)

Oh, and the dock has a problem using different applications with the same name. Your release currently has Apple's Remote Desktop icon in my dock. :D
