Don't understand all these mediocre reviews back in early April. This version (and the previous one which got the low ratings) functions perfectly with OS 10.7.3 on my MBP. Call quality is good and it interfaces fine with Apple's Address Book.
I don't use Skype nearly as much as I used to when calls to all landlines and mobile phones within the US and Canada were free but I still keep money in the account and use it when the Skype rates are cheaper for my call.
Don't hesitate to download and install 5.7.60.1037...it works fine.
Lastly, I have no issues with the new "look." In fact, I like the updated appearance and it's drop-dead easy to use. As long as the app works properly and provides good call quality, that's my interest.
No longer runs under Lion since Rosetta is required. Looks like the developer has chosen to just let this fine app die. Fortunately, there are free alternatives.
The new version 2.0 works fine with OS 10.6.7 and is a free upgrade for previous owners. Hint for previous owners: Don't just click on the MacUpdate download link or you'll end up with the demo version. Go to the developer's web site, enter your e-mail address used for the original purchase and you'll get a link for the full version.
For compressing and zipping files, I merely select the file, pull down the File menu in Finder, select "Compress (the file) and the Mac OS does the heavy lifting. Now that's pretty simple. Does YemuZip do anything else for me other than costing a shareware fee? For example, does it compress the files any smaller and/or anything else?
If you want version 3.0 at $10, I wouldn't procrastinate. The developer's web site graphic (http://bjango.com/apps/istatmenus/) shows the $10 price as being "On Sale." Since it's a sale price, common sense would dictate the after-sale price will be higher.
So you've got a decision to make...stay with the free version 2.x, upgrade to version 3.0 for the sale price of $10 and get more features or twiddle you thumbs thinking about it and then pay the TBD after-sale price.
I saved a screen shot of the $10 On Sale graphic for when the price goes up.

OK, what do we have here, the developer (or close friend) writing one and a competitor writing the other?
No way two objective opinions could be that far apart. Hopefully some uninterested party reviews will show up.
