The good: It's fast and it works great. The author lists Robin Hoover as director of patience on the "about" screen. Hooray. The minor flaws: the gray toolbar is actually ugly whatever that really matters.
The bottom line: a great writing tool and a free gift. Who is really grinchy enought to complain about that? Right on and write on James!
I used a registered copy of this program for a number of years and had it customized to do a specific job. When I migrated to a new Mac, the totally obnoxious registration procedure which checks an online database every time you install on a new computer gave me a string of messages that it couldn't find its server and wouldn't register my copy. The nicest thing I can say about this is, "blah." I have moved to Opal which is simpler, but faster and more reliable. It has a conventional registration procedure which won't lock you out of software you have paid for. I, personally, will have nothing more to do with this program or developer.
OK. The latest update did accept my password and I am grateful for this because I have a lot of work in this format. Apologies for getting bent out of shape. I am still moving a lot of things to Opal, however.
This program takes an email address and asks for a password. Full screen mode has no exit nor is there a way to depart from the program. Malware highly suspected. AVOID
After 5 years of productive use on several computers, I am suddenly unable to register this program on my new iMac 27. I just get an error message. Mind you, I have used these registration numbers on previous computers. Of course, the registration uses a "call home" system so registration depends on the developer staying in business and keeping that gimmick active. I have really a lot of stuff in this format and would, I guess, pay another ten bucks for a new license (not without a lot of complaining) if I had any confidence that buying a new license would solve my problem. The developer has been helpful before, but now is silent.
I am very concerned that TAO has been sold to some kind of reseller who is just trying to nab another $10 from registered users.
I just want the opportunity to say how very much I despise iTunes 9. It is clumsy, slow, disorganized and pathetically ugly. Every change has made information harder to find. Hiding the shopping cart in the obscure "wish list" is a naked attempt to promote impulse buying and make Apple a few more Micro$oft stylee $$$. As someone who has used Macs sin 1989 and iTunes from the very beginning I just want to say, "Blah!"
