Be very careful with this app. I purchased the prior incarnation of their editing software which they killed when they bought this product from another developer. They gave me a license for 1.1 of Imagarie as part of their "Free upgrades for a lifetime" guarantee, but now that they've moved to the App store, they refuse to upgrade users to the 1.2 version.

So the "Free upgrades for a lifetime" guarantee is really just for as long as they feel like it. Beware of the shady business practices and you will find better apps for the same or less money.

It will be interesting to see how not offering an update price works out for FileMaker/Apple. I guess it is understandable for iWork and iLife because they were mature products, but Bento definitely does not fall into that category.

I purchased the "Family License" of v1.x with the expectation that I would be using it on multiple Macs. I have tried to use it and to like it, but because the feature set is SO limited, I've not been able to do what I hoped with Bento and have never put it on any of my other Macs. Many features that I would consider very basic are missing so I expected a new version quickly.

I'm really pretty stunned that they are not offering any kind of upgrade price at all! I mean, if they even knocked $5 off, it wouldn't feel quite so bad.

I think that because there is no upgrade incentive at all, Bento has earned a place of being DELETED off of my system instead of being updated. I have tried so hard to like and use this product, but it seems it is not to be.

I received an AppleScript error saying that the domain/default pair of (com.apple.iTunes, DeviceBackupsDisabled) does not exist (1).

This key did not exist in my iTunes plist file so I added it as a boolean and now your program works. You might want to add a check for the existence of this key and create it if it doesn't exist.

Great program, great idea! I'm very grateful as my iPhone backups have been taking close to an hour when syncing. Now the sync is very fast with the backups disabled. Add that one little tweak and you've got a winner!
