About Me I am a MacUpdate Desktop user

I ride cyclocross races in the fall (hence my muddy face), lead a math club in my children's elementary school, and like to program for fun.

I don't know why key macro software has such a steeply increasing cost curve, but so far, all of them have. Youpi key used to be free, then became expensive. Typinator was the most economical choice for 10.6, but now entails an annual (ish) upgrade train. I'll hop off for now - the new features of 5 aren't enough to warrant the cost for me.
Years overdue as a Universal app, but still the best font editor out there. I was surprised how well it worked under Rosetta, but now that Apple has deprecated PPC compatibility, FontLab has been forced to port to the Intel architecture. It seems like they did a fine job. Familiar look-and-feel, solid performance and so far crash-free. Hopefully their public beta period shook out the major bugs - I haven't ran into any this version. It's nice that they aren't charging their loyal customers for supporting Intel processors. I'd like to say I expected it, but lately haven't been getting that kind of joy from many of my publishers. Belated kudos to FontLab.
Whoops. MacUpdate Desktop automatically updated my licensed Pixelmator without warning me that I would be downgrading to a version that I don't have a license to. I now either have to pay full price, or dig around for my backup copy of 1.x.
As I was reading through the literature on Flying Logic Pro, I got an odd feeling this system felt like the System Dynamics apps like Vensim and Simgua. Digging a bit deeper in the Wikipedia article on "Theory of Constraints", which FLPro is based on, it appears that there is an unattributed (by the TOC community) relationship between them.
I needed a synthesizer Audio Unit to play with Impromptu, the live coding environment by Andrew Sorenson. I was surprised that of Logic's many modules, none of them are Audio Units. So I bought Absynth and Zebra, and both work great, but I prefer the sound of Zebra - it sounds smoother, and has a more intuitive control / programming interface.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but jumpboxes are no longer free -- you have to have a paid membership to download them. There is a 15-day trial, but after that, it costs money.
