Nobody should startup a Mac without Little Snitch installed. Period. In all the years I have used the app, it has never misbehaved. It is reliable, efficient and non-intrusive.
Even if you are a non-power-user who prefers to be oblivious to what goes on "under the hood" of your Mac, you will be enlightened and made wiser as Little Snitch reveals apps that are attempting to send out information that you never imagined.
I've found that a lot of UI add-ons turn out to be useless bells and whistles that actually get in the way of productivity. Not this one! Everything about it is easy; easy installation, easy to understand, easy to learn how to use all of its convenient features. Customizing the appearance is fun. I've found it to be stable and reliable.
Default Folder X has so spoiled me, that I feel like I'm working with my arm tied behind my back when I'm working on someone else's Mac. It works perfectly with Adobe Creative Suite, QuarkXpress, Freehand, and every other app I routinely use. I'll use and update this gem until Apple has the good sense to incorporate it into future OS versions.
