I have used MM 2 since it was invented. It is reliable and I trust it like DiskWarrior. They are the only tools needed for 90% of problems. MM 2 will NOT work with Lion hence the upgrade.
When I downloaded and first used the trial, I was disappointed to see that the translucent Log window option had been removed.
I like to see what it is doing as it performs the routines.
I sent feedback to MM and within 24 hours, this feature has been returned! That is what I call support! So it is now at 3.0.2
If you have 3.0.1 it will update itself as soon as you launch it.
I consider the discounted price (if you already have MM2) to be money well spent. It also appears to be MUCH faster than MM2
I have run it on my 2.66 24" iMac and my 2.13 MacBook white
without a hitch.
I have now abandoned TTPro, the Pref pane slows the Mac and the repair tool has really messed up my HD on several occasions.
Thank goodness DiskWarrior came to the rescue afterwards
DiskWarrior just updated the DVD online, you burn your own copy. It is now at 4.3
It cost nothing, you just need your original V4 DVD
The new version boots all but the latest MacBook Pros released a week or so ago.
It does take a long time to boot but then it is very fast to run the Volume rebuild.
This free version is garbage.
There is NO REAL TIME SCANNER so you have to get infected
and then only know that you have been if you run a manual scan!
Maybe Intego are not big enough to offer a free version like Sophos
Why would they, if they did nobody would buy the full version.
I use the full version and it is very good, with excellent support too,
despite all the negative comments in the past.
But then VirusBarrier X6 is NOT just a virus scanner, it has NetBarrier as well incorporated into it.
Absolute garbage. Useless GUI Impossible to understand.
Unbelievable mess up from the people who gave us the current
version which works so well.
I thought it was some sort of mistake and I had downloaded something else it was so bad
I too had one disaster with Monolingual some years ago so I have used Macaroni for at least 10 years and it works perfectly.
Never had a crash or problem.
It also runs permissions repair and all cron scripts automatically as a bonus

Cheap at the price too.
I too am fed up with the cavalier attitude and CHARGES for minor updates.
I have used TTPro since it's inception with mainly favourable results.
However I object to paying $Au79 just to get a DVD which will boot my early 2009 new iMac when I recently had to buy one to boot my previous 2008 iMac
Alsoft charged $Au24 for the same thing. It arrived 3 days after ordering and works really well. A well known supplier of a very famous clone backup facility recommends Drive Genius if you really have to defragment.
I am happy with V 4.6.2 and can use it from my external HD to run repairs. I cannot see the value in V 5 and I think the new "improved" interface is garish and crass to put it mildly. The old interface was functional and easy to follow, almost elegant compare to this latest iteration.
It's DiskWarrior for me...
iMac early 2009 24" 2.66 GHz OS 10.5.6
I have used this product for years and recently it stopped working.
I contacted support, and the developer Dave was back to me within 1 hour!
He then constantly conversed with me with suggestions for a week but I was unable to fix the problem.
The problem was fixed by purchase of a replacement external Firewire HD
which had passed all the tests thrown at it with TechTool, DiskWarrior etc
but then started stalled during Disk Repair.
I cannot speak highly enough of the support for this product
It is by far the best back up utility especially the "Smart" feature which completely backs up my 40 Gig HD in 12 minutes!
A must utility for all Mac users !
