2.0 version worked just fine.

Forgot to say that all I see is a Grey Rectangle with the words "BatteryLevel". I assume that this is the back of the widget and I cannot get it to change to the front.

I just discovered that my Dashboard became frozen and that is why I couldn't get BatteryLevel to work. It now works. Sorry about that.

I downloaded it again, and before I installed the new programme (not version), the older progamme (1.7.2) worked. ???

Yes, it works find now. Sorry if I didn't make that clear earlier. After the second download, it began to work even before the second download was actually installed. That is why the numerous ???

I installed 1.7.2, opened it up, icon appears on menu bar, but can't get it to work.
