Transmit
Darukaru commented on 04 May 2012
4.1.9 fixes the problems I had with Transmit Disk not mounting some SFTP sites. Thanks for the timely update, Panic crew.

PS3 Media Server
Darukaru commented on 24 Oct 2011
The developers of this app need to take a good hard look at what StreamToMe/ServeToMe has accomplished, *also* using open-source components but having significantly improved playback compatibility, interface quality, and overall polish and presentation

If ServeToMe could act as a DLNA server there would be no reason to use PS3MS ever again.

What the thumbnail screenshot isn't showing you is that the app comes with a built-in Facebook "like" button, visible at all times. I deleted it immediately after downloading because it was so obnoxious. If I'm downloading a YouTube player app it's because I want less crap in my video player experience, not more.

Unfortunately, it's the only app that does what it does. Anyone out there who has the programming chops to handle all the file conversion and metadata editing *and* wrap the package in a clean, understandable interface is going to make a mint.

That's a 402 *KB* download, not 402 *MB*. Phew.

Shoddy, bloated, non-native garbage. What the hell does a Tetris knockoff need with a full copy of WebKit embedded in it?

Nine Euros for the privilege of beta testing an 0.1 version open source product. Wow.

Backblaze

The RAM issues with the 64-bit client seem to have been resolved with more recent versions. Now if only there were some way to switch to a different computer without deleting your entire backup set…

Oh hey they added that in the 1.5 revision. Now I kind of wish I'd held off on a new computer for a couple months...

uTorrent
Darukaru commented on 01 Jun 2010
When it's still missing features like being able to select destination directories on a per-torrent basis--features other clients supported well in their early stages--I'm not entirely sure it deserves to be promoted from "beta" to "stable". Not that these terms really have much in the way of meaning anymore.

Backblaze
darukaru had trouble on 01 Sep 2009
No quarrels with the service, but I am noticing that the "bztransmit" program in the latest version (1.0.1.190) is suddenly consuming hundreds of megs of memory more than the previous release (build 162?). Right now it's at 350MB and climbing. Using Snow Leopard on an iMac5,1.

I found a copy of the old build 162 and reinstalled that. Maximum memory usage: 110MB after running for eight hours. Build 190 went as high as 520MB at one point after running the same amount of time.
