I feel like I've finally wandered out of a wilderness. Fruux at last offers an easy, even transparent way to sync my Macs' To-Dos, Bookmarks, etc. It took a minute to figure out, in part because it's easier than it seems it should be! Had one day where the server was apparently off and on, but otherwise no problems. Do make sure you understand how to delete data on a "target" Mac so you don't have duplicates after syncing, but this is one great program.
Great little program that does what it promises. Saves hours and produces high quality results. I could quibble with the registration system, but it's pretty standard for any independent developer who doesn't want his hard work ripped off.
Wow. I thought this was a good program but it didn't work on partitions/drives separate from the OS. For me, that was a deal breaker.
This obviously passionate developer solved that problem with a very cool update. It's blazing fast and brainless to use.
This appears to be a good program fairly well executed. However, it's almost useless for me because IT ONLY WORKS ON THE SYSTEM VOLUME.
I realize not everyone utilizes partitions for ease of backup, maintenance, etc., but I do and most of my sensitive data is on volumes other than the OS volume—the same drive, but different partitions.
Support for more partitions/drives would be huge. This app is easy to use and well written, but that one limit (no doubt related to Apple's system) is problematic.
Couldn't live in Windows world without this. New version seems to work perfectly, installed easily and it's free! "Only" give 4.5 stars for features as this guy is good and will probably think of something new so I have to leave room for a higher ranking there.
In response to performance questions, my limited experience involves eventually having stopped using ClamXav on my G4 and even G5 (dual, 2.0) in part because the performance hit made it problematic for background use. Everything slowed. But on my newer Intel (2.6 Macbook Pro) I don't even know ClamXav is running. With the increase in virus potential, this is a good deal. On a slower machine, I'd just run it at night or other off hours.
