If you read the DivX infomation on the site, Youll notice they DID NOT include any H264 video or AAC audio or MKV encoder updates with the Mac version of DivX 7.
Strange that WE Mac users have been using H264 and AAC in MPEGs MP4 container for years now. Not a big Deal to use Quicktime components to encode them instead in MP4.
DivX 7.0 Converter is version 1.3 is still PPC CPU useable.
DivX 7.0 Encoder component 6.8 is still PPC CPU useable.
(Some nice new options as PPC only had 6.7 before)
DivX 7.0 Decoder component is still PPC CPU useable.
DivX 7.0 Web plugin is 1.4.1.4 is still PPC CPU useable.
Only the App player requires Intell CPU as it has Intell libraries for the DivX player app for MKV only but then you can use Quicktime 7 ( as they give you a Quicktime DivX only component as ^above ^ and Perian plugin to play MKV any way if you must. then save as MOV and not need MKV version again. )
If you Need to make DivX standard files for a stand alone player then this will still work for PPC users. and you can use Quicktime to do just that still, You just can ether wait till (IF) they add PPC libraries or Extract the components from the installer and add them manualy to your PPC system.
Installer>Show contents>contents>unpack the zip file>then unpack the new zip file>
archive> NEW content....copy the new components...
DivX 6 license is all thats needed as the encoder is still version 6 but now 6.8
Its open source some would say thats enough but not me.
Its better than APPLEs as its completely user configurable this includes the HIGH PROFILE options Quicktime 7 wont use with out it and options to limit how much resources it uses up. Even with these options its still quicker than Apples built in H264 encoder with better results due to the high profile options.
1.57 working fine again after sony changed the PS3 ID to stop illegal proxy downloading.
changes to the ports used since 1.53 have not been publicy announced but that only effects OSX Tiger users with port 1900 being used now.
Even stream m2ts files which is nice as only Eyetv can play them but using the PS3 is way better.
The other media server apps have defaulted back to DLNA level1 Mpeg jpeg pcm only due to the PS3 ID change...
Its been updated to allow users to transfer data to new browsers with out being at risk from Firefoxs security Issues that were fixed in firefox 2.0.12 update.
Thats what release notes are for so you can look up a the reasons for updates via the link.
Yes this app is just a way to publicly test the beta versions of the gecko engines used in firefoxes NIghtly builds as most users won't go near them but put another app name on it and they will download the linked app.
MPlayer OSX now plays WMV so this "free" viewer is no longer needed. this now moves Mplayer to be my primary player ahead of Quicktime, so ive deleted this plugin.
FFmpegx converts WMV to any other codec, quicker than quicktime will exported them anyway.
Er if you have a region free drive it will play DVDs, My ali Powerbook G4 internal dual layer DVDRW just crashes VLC if you put a potected DVD in it.on the DVD Side nothings change since 0.8.4, it does play Quick time saved moves fine for me, the new on screen controlls remind me of mplayers GUI now if i could only get them on full screen.
