I am not a wizard in coding HTML/PHP/JAVA so a simple wysiwyg is what I need.
Did many tests with several webdesign tools and for me this is the best. I am not saying it has flaws (it crashes 4 times in my tests) but in general it has a great work flow.
Plugins are needed though. Especially Blocks and it would be fair to include such plugin in the next release as default.
Conclusion:
Simple to use and fast to create nice websites. Just what I need.
I was curious why this app gets low and high ratings for the same version. So installed it together with fseventer to see what it actually is installing. What I can already acknowledge: It installs a lot of files in not common places. One file was a kext file which can be very dangerous and can be mostly considered as very suspicious.
Ok, tried some features and it clearly does not do more then other free apps as iTweax and Onyx. MacKeeper on the other hand is in my humble experience not save for both experts and novices. It just doesn't feel right.
Now uninstalling this app is difficult if you did not trace what it actually installed. The included uninstaller does a VERY BAD job in uninstalling, in fact it lets many installed files untouched - including the kext file! That is very alarming imo and the company should take care of this !!!
Does this app delivers some value? In my tests, it does not. I mean, all available features minus the Anti-Theft can be found in trusted apps as iTweax and Onyx. Both proven and save to use apps.
My advice: do not install/try this app if you do not know how to uninstall every single file.
Conclusion:
The low rating are correct. The high ratings are not.
Sorry to say but this converter does not work very well.
Most times I drag a 1080i movie into Adapter and select a preset it tells me 'Incompatible' and it cannot be converted.
However, some presets do work, resulting in a bad converted movie. It plays with stutters, FFWD gives issues all the time and audio syncing is a pain.
According Adapter some movies seems to have no video stream at all though they do have a perfect working stream.
All movies I tried, converted fine with Handbrake and IFFmpeg.
About UI: some people like it some dont. For me it isn't working. In fact, the devs did not give it a good thinking when creating the UI. It is just a mess really. The custom buttons and controls are awefull.
But I could overlook the fact the UI is bad, if the app actually worked.
Important note: every time I launch Adapter it asks me to write a review at MU. I find this bad manners to get positive reviews! This smells like MacKeeper business to me. Shame to the devs !! If Adapter is good, good reviews will follow without pushing people to do so. Just my two cent though.
