TVShows.prefPane

Algos reviewed on 03 Oct 2011
Very easy to use and works well. However, there is some room for improvement.

Sometimes it takes its time to download the torrents. For example, three of my subscribed shows aired on 3:00 or 4:00 AM this morning (my local time). TVShows downloaded them at 21:21 tonight. That's more than 17 hours later. I had already downloaded them manually by then, as I didn't want to wait any longer. With the old TVShows.app I was used to my favorite shows being ready to watch with my morning coffee.

It also doesn't look for PROPER or REPACK versions, so if there was something wrong with the initial release, you have to find the fixed ones on your own.

Don't misunderstand. I appreciate the fact that Victor has taken the time and effort to pick up development. If you read this, please take this as friendly suggestions that could make this great preference pane even better.

It's never been officially released, but you can find a universal binary (that has worked fine for me) here:

"Not all contained folders expand fully any more, but instead only those that have no sibling folders, i.e. no alternatives to choose from. That should make diving into folders of interest easier."

I wish this was optionial, as it really ruined how I use this software most of the time. I'll be sticking with 1.4.2.

Thanks Thomas, that helps a lot. An option would certainly be nice but this works fine for now.

It seems the previous version (3.4.1) has disappeared completely. While I can understand that they're not keeping it around, as it will probably hurt sales, it's a shame for Leopard and PPC users who now won't be able to use it any more.

This is really nice and simple. The only thing I am missing is an option to create encrypted disk images.

Clusters
Algos commented on 21 Apr 2010
It seems after a while of using, squeezed items that have been deleted are still being counted towards the savings. For example, I use Squeeze on my Applications folder. I haven't been installing new applications, but many regularly update, and the saving total keeps going up and up. Also, the compressing I did on some duplicated folders (early on, to test Squeeze) which afterwards have been deleted still count as previous savings. Doesn't seem correct to me.

Just so you know: Name Mangler 2.1 is not free any more. You can launch it 25 times before you have to shell out. I'll stick with 2.0, thanks...

iTweax

I don't understand. I downloaded iTweax 2.0 yesterday from MU, and it seems to work fine on Leopard. Now the description says Leopard users have to use 1.2.8?

Safari AdBlocker
Algos had trouble on 13 Jan 2010
Since updating to 1.7 I am plagued by websites sometimes showing as a blank page with "1x1 pixels" appearing in the tab title, which is very annoying. I have to disable Safari Adblock or reload the page a couple of times to get it to show. Any tips?

This a really nice utility, but how am I supposed to open a new tab in Safari now that the new key command for maximizing changed to Cmd-T? Any way to set this to a different key??

While I like the prefpane, I found I can not fast forward and rewind when it is active. Skipping tracks works fine though. Is this a know limitation?

Why does this version save its log files in the application folder? I just noticed a ton of log files just sitting there... I have never seen this in previous releases.
