It is a good attempt. Firetask is not perfect but with the addition of the iPad/iPhone app and syncing it makes up for many shortfalls.
I like the fact that it's not too complicted. There's nothing worse than having to spend days working out a program and how to use it.
I hate the fact that you can't use the normal European date system. It forces you to use the rather stupid month / day / year setup which if you're not American is pretty useless at best, confusing at worst.
Good Player. Does what it says and works well.
Ignore the negative sheeple comments below. They can't handle simple, good software and seem to believe that iTunes is the answer to everything. Kudos to developer.
Very well made and simple app.
I tried QuietRead but found it too was overly complicated for such a simple task.
I'm actually glad this is not an extension. Every time Safari updates it breaks extensions. This is far simpler and straightforward.
BTW Webkit, which Safari is based on is a known memory hog. Making this an extension is only going to make matters worse and end up like Firefox, which often is unusable due to so many extensions.
Youtube videos download fine but anything else is a nightmare.
Constantly giving errors on trying to download from Google video.
Still waiting for CosmoPod to update to Lion then I can delete this crap.
Does not work on Lion. Ignores Google Video and Youtube is not much better.
Been going through all these apps and most are totally crap.
Still waiting on a Lion update for Cosmopod... the only one that worked all the time. Xvideo thief comes in second but always crashes on Google vids. Videobox sometimes works but crashes on conversion.
Jaksta can download anything and everything. Problem is you can't add what you want to download. You have to wait for Jaksta to monitor and wait for Jaksta to start downloading... sometimes you have to wait a very long time or it simply does not pick up the video. Other times when it is working well it downloads EVERY video you come across including flash ads and the like.
Looks like it was written by a PC guy. Needs a revamp, however it is promising.
What a pile of crap. Tested the demo version and it didn't download a thing.
Installed the Safari Extension. Quit and restarted Safari. Navigated to Google Video and played a video.... used the Safari extension to open the video URL in iTubeX and it plays in the window. When trying to download it it says "Please make sure you're on a page with a playing video or audio clip". This has happened for all sites I've tried on the crappy 4 video limit the trial offers.
Waste of time. Don't bother downloading. Deleting it from my system now!
Useless.
Everytime it downloads a video... fine.
Converting it gives an error message at the end stating there was a problem. Waste of time. Deleted (again) from my system. Don't bother downloading. I'll wait for CosmoPod and in the meantime I use xVideoServiceThief.
Tried this app.
Very strange. All the vaults I created don't ask for the password even though I created encrypted vaults.
Tried a number of times... no luck. Anyone can see and open your stuff. Made a test vault called 'test' which worked. Tried another called 'tost'. Worked also. If it does'nt start with a 't' it doesn't work. What the heck is going on with this?
I used to use this application. However I found that it would regularly crash while uploading. Files that did get through were not to be found. Got to the point where it was simply useless which was a shame 'cause I really liked the idea.
Found the alternative: Droplr. Same principle... menu bar icon that you drag images to etc but it simply works. Well integrated with Twitter - if you use that service. Only drawback is you need a Twitter account to sign up.
Hmm, would have been good but I get the same 'No permission' error. Tried deleting the server and reinstalling... no luck. Switched the webserver tab on and off... still no luck. Can't find anything on the site forum on how to fix it.
Back to .mac I suppose or I'll look for something else online.
Good idea. However very slow to play the video (tested it out on Anouk's Sacrifice and the video finally came up at the end of the song and then so slow it was unwatchable). The widget hogs CPU & memory so that the entire system becomes sluggish & unresponsive.
I reckon it'll be worth using after some more work.
Seems broken on my MacBook since the last OS update. Now only get Question marks '?' instead of info. Reinstalled but still the same. Virtually useless now. Anyone else have this trouble?
Nice idea. However for total compatibility it should have been perhaps based on Firefox instead of the Safari Engine.
Doesn't work at all with certain webmail sites such as GMX (www.gmx.com). Whatever webmail sites Safari has problems with (and there are a few), MaileR will also.
That's pity. Stopped working so I thought I'd go to the Developer's site to see if I could download a new/updated copy.
Here's what it said:
