Retrospect

Abates25 reviewed on 08 Nov 2007
I've been using retrospect as the backup solution with all my clients, ranging from single-user consultants to 70+ person organizations, and have always been thrilled with it.
Unlike others here, I don't upgrade any mission critical machines to the newest OS release until after the first couple months in the wild and, by following that mantra, have never had any problems. It can connect to a host of clients through a variety of methods, the backup sets can be modified as I need, and the device compatibility list grows by the week.

Microsoft Office 2008

The updaters often times don't update all applications to the newest version, but only specific parts of the office 2004 install, hence the discrepancy between version numbers...

Communigate Pro

Can't say it is beautiful, but it is so far (a year of use) flawless. Easy administration, no client-side issues to date, feature-rich, though can be used is a sensible modular way

MacSaber

Works exactly as directed. Some of the most fun I've ever had swinging around a $3000 object. Though one would have to imagine a real light saber would cost you more. So maybe this would be more economical for Luke?

More curiously, will this work with a MBP?!

HandBrake

Abates25 reviewed on 29 Apr 2006
I've been using Handbrake for almost two years now and it keeps getting better. Using it now as a Universal app on my MacBook, it is incredible. On my 1Ghz PowerBook, I was happy with a 15fps rip rate; now I am getting 58fps average on my rips. Awesome!

Apple Aperture

This update seems great, but I must ask - where is my intel support?! Apple had said it would be intel-enabled by the end of March...sigh...the price drop is nice though.
