Not feature rich, but the app is stable and has never let me down. Worth every penny!
Embarrassing to admit a mistake, but in all fairness to the developer, I should report that after contacting the developer, it may be the copy I used may have been cracked. Since this may be the case, I have apologized to the developer for flaming out and for not switching to a purchased copy after finding it is stable. Previous review was based on the assumption HyperDock was a broken app and I was being asked to upgrade again after only having recently purchased it. New review based on performance of app while it worked and to make up for earlier negative comments.
WORST OF ALL; I SAW NO WARNING IN THE INSTALLER OR ON THE WEBSITE THAT INSTALLING VERSION 1.4 WOULD INVALIDATE THE LICENSE. WHAT A RIP! MAYBE THE DEVELOPER BURIED THAT MESSAGE SOMEWHERE, BUT I'LL BET ALMOST EVERYONE GOT HOODWINKED. WHY DID I WASTE MY TIME CONTACTING THE DEVELOPER TO INQUIRE WHY THE LICENSE WASN'T BEING ACCEPTED?
APPLE CAN PAY AN ARMY OF CODERS TO UPGRADE AN ENTIRE OPERATING SYSTEM AND NOT CHARGE THE USERS FOR THE UPGRADE (MAVERICKS), YET THIS DEVELOPER EXPECTS TO BE PAID FOR A UPGRADE I JUST RECENTLY PAID FOR??????
I tried Shk747's hint. I didn't work. Ay word from the developer to those who paid $10 for this one-trick pony about when it'll be fixed?
Just updated to OSX 10.9 Mavericks and the OS installer informed me that the current version of Splashtop Remote is not compatible. So far, no update available from Splashtop.
Won't be upgrading. It's really annoying to be told you are forced to pay for a "donation." Are we idiots? That's like my government telling me that I may "voluntarily" pay income tax. Anyway, I can't see if this would even work with my iPad which has been upgraded to iOS7.
I purchased the "Laurence package," version 4, which gives a reasonable facsimile of british english, but that's where my praise ends! I deleted it because Apple's "Alex" sounds more human. I could see no improvements when I tried version 6. It was annoying to be reminded every 20 seconds right from the start that I had not upgraded. Cheapskates! Why upgrade? It is no better. Then, after I uninstalled it using the command in the preference pane and switched back to Alex. It continued to speak only the Laurence voice. It's not enough to be mediocre and expensive software, but once you install it, you can't easily get rid of it. Beware!
Oh, I spoke too soon after that last glowing review! Bittorrent Sync seems like a great new app, but I also discovered a huge flaw in how it works on my two machines. I just discovered that whenever text clippings are synced across my two machines on the LAN, they lose their contents. Somehow the syncing reversed and the original files on the first machine were also rendered blank. I had hundreds of these little files stored in my synced documents folders and in other places on the hard drives. Now they are blank. The files are there, but when you open them, there's no data inside.
Unfortunately, 8 months has passed and the really bad bug in BitTorrent Sync that causes text clips that transfers as blank files is still there. For those of us who work with text clippings a lot, it amazes me that this bug has not been fixed yet. Besides this serious problem, it is a GREAT utility.
Didn't know a free app like this could be of so much value and so easy to use. THANK YOU!!! One slight concern: Since I started using BitTorrent Sync, the bi-directional syncing appears to cause some error reporting with Miro (bit torrent client) every time I open it, reporting the database is corrupted and must build a new one. Also, had problems syncing the DevonThink Pro database files between two different machines, but apparently no data loss so far.
