As a deeply technical user (my comfort zone is the CLI), I've never had any issues using ffmpeg or similar tools to handle my encoding needs. This tool, however, makes handling video files sufficiently simple that even I eschew the more-powerful CLI tools in favor of it. It's sufficiently well put-together that I have even passed it on to my non-technical spouse, who subsequently passed it on to even less-technical coworkers with consistently outstanding results. Rare is the tool that transcends both technical and non-technical users so well.

Immensely useful program. Although some of the UI bits feel a bit clunky compared to PasswordSafe, they're more than overcome by the fact that I can share safes between operating systems cleanly.

I've been using NeoOffice on my one Mac for quite some time and have been relatively pleased with it. Although startup is rather slow and not all document formatting comes out right, it's been useful if nothing else for quick looks at documents others send me. However, this week is the last week I'll use the software. You can put lipstick on a pig, but a required donation is by definition a payment. Added to the fact that the patches for 3.1.2 are now rather difficult to find (hey - put a link out there on the patch page for 'oldpatches' instead of herding people toward 3.2) and that I would have to pay $100 for support, I'll just spend [less than] the $100 and get Apple's official office suite with known speed, compatibility, and support. -- an OSS pragmatist.
