Really disappointing for me, for a few reasons. 1. Inability to play against PC players on Steam. Why even bother requiring Steam when you can't play against the other 95% who actually bought the game and were smart enough to buy a PC? The Steam port to Mac is terrible and bogs down my machine, and when I am forced to run it while I play Steam it is just a resource hog. 2. Seems like the port from PC to Mac was shoddy, there are numerous times I've been deep into a war and had it crashed on me, and would never reopen, so I had to actually restart my computer. 3. The installation process is very irritating to me, I've had to delete and reinstall twice already for unknown errors and Steam's response to it was always "Game files appear to be corrupt, should just reinstall." 4. For a game that prided itself on gameplay rather than graphics, it runs absolutely terrible on a relatively new Mac, only a 1.5 years old. Even on low settings the game lags and once your empire becomes sprawling it slows to a halt. All in all I'm pretty sure that the developer could really care less about the Mac users. Makes me ask the question, why bother porting it to begin with? Oh right... to make money.
Personally, I think it's BS that a) I need to make an account to download a free app from the app store and b) I need to put a credit card on my account just to download an update from a preexisting program I've already had installed. Honestly, I've lost a lot of respect for Apple after they try to corner the market by doing this. Disappointing because I was excited about this at first. Personally I think this will ultimately turn off would-be customers, and I think it makes small developers look greedy and encourages them to charge higher prices for their software. A real shame.
This is my web browser of choice, but I have stopped using it because of one major bug. Occasionally when browsing it will lock my computer up, can't force quit it, can't switch apps, can't do anything but to a hard restart. It's a shame because in my opinion is far superior to safari in terms of speed and usability, but I can't use it when it randomly locks up my computer (happens at least once a day when I was using it). Bummer.
I hesitate to give it negative marks due to its price, but 10 bucks seems steep considering it does only a few things (albeit extremely useful things). Whether or not it's worth 10 bucks to someone is largely up to them... I used the beta for a long time, unaware it was going to be shareware in the future (but I don't hold that again the dev, of course they have the right to charge). That said, it is very well written and worked flawlessly for me during the betas and updates. If it was less expensive I would have bought it no questions asked.
Only torrent client I use. Only issue I occasionally run into is, upon quitting the application with running torrents, it hangs and sometimes needs to be force quit.
