Version 5 is still vaporware after all these years. What is it, six years since it was announced? Does anyone else find it disingenuous of the developers to continue to say this: "Butler 5 pre-sale: Support Butler by purchasing Butler 4 now, and you'll receive a free copy of Butler 5 when it ships!" How about an honest update on when Butler 5 is coming out guys?
Tried all the other Twitter clients, including Tweetdeck. None had all the features I wanted and they would often direct me to the Twitter web site to login to do certain things. This almost has it all, is easy to use and works well with its iOS companion. The only feature that I think is needed is scheduling tweets. You can save drafts, but you can't schedule.
Tried out many of the alternatives in a quest to migrate to something more secure than SplashID. Found 1Password inflexible and unable to import most of my entries except as notes. mSecure is considered among the most secure of these password keepers. It's not fancy. It's basic interface has room for some improvement and some features are missing, including web browser integration. But it is flexible and solid. Using it on Mac and iOS and syncing with no problems.
I wrote an earlier review which I stand by. BTW @Mathias-Rhein, I found your comments personally insulting. I have been waiting for OF 2 to see if anything has improved, but it is still in the works. In the meantime, I found an alternative that isn't even listed on Macupdate yet: 2do (2doapp.com - I am not affiliated). It has a Mac and an iOS version, syncs for free using iCloud, Dropbox or any WebDAV server you like, and is both powerful and easy to use. It doesn't have all of OF's features, but it also doesn't have the bloat and confusion. Bye-bye OF. BTW, it's half the price of OF.
I donated $20 for Butler back in 2007. How long have we been waiting for version 5? Vaporware! But worse is Rob's condescending attitude to the customers. We can see it here, but it's even worse in emails directly from him. And, as we all know, there are several better alternatives to Butler out there.
See how this has not been updated for two years? Go to MarkSpace's web site to read about how it won't sync Contacts that have birhtdays under Lion. How lame is that? After all, the contacts for which you have birthdays probably aren't important. I don't use it, so won't rate it. What is the term for software that is not being updated to fix bugs, but that is still being sold? How about "milkware" as in milking the customers.
If you're looking for a program with a complicated, unintuitive interface. then this is the one for you. If you're looking for a program that you still won't understand after 6 months of use, then this is it. Go ahead and try to sort your tasks by due date, for example. Nothing happens. Want to sync with iCal? iCal has calendars. OmniFocus has contexts. Are these comparable? No, but OmniFocus requires you to match them up in order to sync. Want to see what's due each day of the coming weeks? Forget it. You can see what's due today and tomorrow, plus "Within the Next Week" and "Within the Next Month" etc. Want to see and arrange tasks on a calendar? No can do. This is the most aggravating piece of software on my Mac.
This company is completely useless. They don't really have a clue about how to treat customers well. And the software is marginal at best. Forget about any customer service.
