I've run into a problem. I recently started using two monitors, and while Change Desktop does put pictures on both, the second monitor won't go into Mission Control. Only the primary monitor. That makes it so I can't move things around in Mission Control on the second monitor. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Also, in Lion Change Desktop would put a different picture on every space in Mission Control, but now in Mountain Lion they're all showing up the same (and yes, 'display a different image for each space' is checked). Thanks!
One of my favorite apps ever. I've had it for years. It's understandable that they decided to stop maintaining it, though, with Apple continually making it harder and harder to customize OS X. I still intend to keep CandyBar around as long as possible, though, for the icon storage part if not the icon replacement features.
Great overall. As an icon collector nut, CandyBar is indispensable application, and it has been well worth the purchase. I have only one complaint: their Smart Collections don't have an option to find icons by an icon's pixel size, only its file size. Which means you can't make smart folders that include certain sizes of icons (i.e., if you want a collection that only has icons with a 512x512 size). Actually, come to think of it, Smart Collections don't seem to work reliably in any case. But I don't really use them much anyway (mostly because of the lack of pixel-size options, I must add). I've had no problems on Lion. In fact, the icon replacement seems to be working better for me on Lion than it did on SL. You can't, however, use CandyBar to change the icons of apps downloaded from the Mac App Store—they're grayed out with a lock over them, and not even changing the app's permissions seems to fix that. probably not CandyBar's fault, I'm sure, but Apple's.
If you've ever needed a screenshot of a DVD and couldn't get anything but a blank black screen, this is the tool for you. Works great.
Does anyone know the license restrictions? I can't seem to find anything about it on the website. I just want to know if I can use it on my laptop and my desktop with one license. Tried to email the developer via a link on the website, but it was returned undeliverable.
Thanks for the info.
For those of use who are mousaholics and don't get along with the keyboard launchers that are so big these days, DragThing is a godsend. It's amazingly powerful, flexible, customizable, you name it. My computer feels positively naked without it. Hmmm…in the rating thing I accidentally clicked 4.5 stars for the 'features' rating, and apparently once you click a rating it's not possible to change it? It should be 5. DragThing has more features than you can shake a stick at.
First of all, I like Bento. It's not as powerful as more expensive databases, but it's easy to use, looks nice, and gets the job done. But I'm very disappointed in this new version. I was, at first, excited to see Bento 4 was out, until I actually took a look at it. This should have been a free-upgrade 3.1 release, not a paid upgrade going clear up to 4.0. There were a few added features, but nothing worthy of a whole new version number, and a lot of issues from version 3 are still hanging around as well. Charging a $30 upgrade fee for a paltry new version like this is ridiculous. That said, if you don't already own it, I'd highly recommend getting it. $50 is really not a bad price for this kind of program at all. But if you already own version 3, I would NOT recommend forking over your cash for this upgrade, at least not until they've made some significant improvements.
