- Vietnamese font removed, until a suitable replacement is found
(licensing issue)
- Using proper case in PO filenames (e.g., zh_TW.po instead of zh_tw.po)
to solve MO installation problem caused by Makefile simplification.
- Bug Fixes:
- Legacy Tux Paint images (prior to Tux Paint supporting different
colored backgrounds) would end up with arbitrary Eraser colors.
Forcing it to always use white, which was the only background color
in early versions of Tux Paint.
- Brushes with large spacing wouldn't be spaced properly when drawn
from bottom-to-top using the line tool. Fixed.
Pere Pujal i Carabantes
- Fixed bug when zooming stamps in video depth other than 32bpp.
(Float to int casting; also removes compiler errors.)
- getpixel/putpixel function passed to Magic tools now pays attention
to the incoming surface, rather than always using the canvas surface,
to determine bitdepth. (Fixes bug where some Magic tools, e.g., Grass,
didn't work right on video depths other than 32bpp.)
- "Ojibwe" is the proper spelling of the language, accepting that as
a "--lang" option, too.
- The variables not declared as extern in SDL_Pango.h have been
renamed in dirwalk.c and fonts.c. SDL_Pango.h no longer needs to be
shipped along with tuxpaint code. Inclusion error message has been added
for missing libpaper.
Arunodai Vudem
Mark K. Kim
- "Uppercase only" option support for builds that use Pango to render text.
(Note: Needs help in some/many? locales.)
- Fixed issues where some strings not appearing under 'nopango'
(at least on older Fedora CORE and RedHat).

ME2 What's not to like in this program. The grandkids (and me) LOVE it and play on it and THEY spend hours doodling, etc. Nice sounds, nice graphics, nice Macintosh compatibility... thank you. Maybe this company should write educational softwares for children as they do an excellent job. (Version 0.9.18.07)

WRITESTUFF My twin, five year old grandchildren taught themselves in ten minutes. Then played with it for the rest of the afternoon. Perfect! (Version 0.9.18.06)

ANONYMOUS Great start but a lot of features are lacking. It doesn't tell you where the files are saved, allow you to name them or open old ones. The stamper only stamps little penguins and the colors are limited. (Version 0.9.14)

BILL KENDRICK Anonymous wrote: "It doesn't tell you where the files are saved" Actually, the README documentation tells you. ;^) "allow you to name them or open old ones." Naming files was not something I had planned originally, since the program was meant to be as simple as possible. However, a number of teachers and parents have asked for this capability, so it's planned for a future version. As for opening old pictures, just click "Open!" Duh! ;^) "The stamper only stamps little penguins and the colors are limited." You obviously didn't install the Stamps collection. It's a separate download, as it weighs in at about 2x the size of the program itself. It currently contains about 200 pieces of imagery, some photographic, some drawn. As this collection grows, it will be split into separate downloads (e.g., "coins" will be separate from "fruit" will be separate from "planets"), and Tux Paint will at that point provide a method of navigating the various collections (rather than lumping them all together, like it does now).

BILLKENDRICK Little children aren't supposed to worry about where files are saved. :^) It is, however, documented in the README documentation. Additionally, the Tux Paint Config tool lets you override where files are saved, if you'd like (it can be useful in networked labs at schools, for example). Finally, to open previously-saved images, just click "Open", and a dialog will appear showing thumbnails of all previous works! PS - I have my own Mac now (thanks to the folks at icculus.org), so I'll be able to dedicate more time to the Mac port. (Version 0.9.15)

KEN Very very creative. Lots of fun. My daughter is cracking up right now. :) Lots of palette options is great. Multiple undo's. Great magic tricks and stamps! Sound effects are kewl. I havent played with it too much yet, so here is a wish list: -Larger screen canvas area -Print set-up (glad my photo printer wasnt setup as default) -Save-to folder set up (where is the data?) If this great little app does these things, please let me know how. Developers, thanks for sharing your talent and time! (Version 0.9.14)

KEN Okay I found the "options" manual on the developer site. Wish me luck. (Version 0.9.14)

BILL KENDRICK Good luck! ;^) You might, however, want to just use "Tux Paint Config," a GUI configuration tool that lets you set things like window size, full screen mode, sound on/off, and override which folder images are saved in. See: http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/tuxpaint/download/macosx/ for the link, of course! Enjoy! (Version 0.9.14)

BILL KENDRICK FYI, the 'crash on Open' bug that got introduced in 0.9.11 was fixed in 0.9.12. Sorry about that! ;^) (Version 0.9.12)

ANONYMOUS If you've got kids, don't dowload this, because they'll simply take over your computer. Aimed at kids and very good at this. You can even download more stamps. Very nice. (Version 0.9.10)

ANONYMOUS Since it's Open Source, it's trivial (you don't even need to know how to program) to change the way the interface looks! (Version 0.9.8)
