DESCRIPTION
A simple but handy little script to set the priority of your (and other) processes through the 'renice' UNIX command. (e.g., perhaps you would like Classic to get less processor time, etc.) Requires MacOS X 10.1 or later. Full AppleScript source included.

If you aren't sure what renice does, please go to your Terminal application and type "man renice" before using this script. This script is intended to be used by those that know what all these terms mean, but want a quicker way to do it.

    ANONYMOUS  FC Pro running faster is because your system allows you to 'renice' priorities.

    And it's only 'renice -p' and the process ID. Let's see: that's nine (9) characters, a PID of maybe 3 possibly 4 characters - and then you have to find the Return key too!

    Aw, OK, then it _is_ too much to ask!

    ADAM JAY  i download alot of stuff from macupdate and rarely leave a review because alot of the little apps here are just average.

    but this is the BEST renicing front end i've found. It keeps me out of terminal, and that keeps me happy.

    Its simple looking but also it only has one function so thats great. So many other renicers are uselessly bloated. I don't want the foreground app to get the brunt of the CPU, i don't want a pretty colorful gui, i don't want to see the path of the .app. what i want is control. and BeNicer gives me control.

    plus its free. good work!

    ANONYMOUS  This utility ROCKS!!! By giving Final Cut Pro the highest priority setting, I decreased my rendering time by 20%!!!

    WARRENPEACE  Any way to have these settings remain after restart?? I have an older G4 and really like how I can give the Finder and Window Server UI more priority. Makes my mac a lot snappier™, but then I restart and have to do it all over again.
