Address Book Exporter is a little utility that does one thing, and one thing only: it will let you export your Mac OS X Address Book as a tab-delimited plain text file. Apple doesn't include this feature in its application, though you may want to have it to create mailing lists, upload address books to webmail servers, etc...
Updated Palm Desktop template to make it match Palm Desktop 4's format.
Added "Other" field export for Address, Email and Phone.
Added a Check for Updates... feature (manual or automatic).
Added optional textured windows support. There is no GUI yet for this feature. You will have to type defaults write net.gwenhiver.AddressBookExporter ABEHasTexturedWindows -bool YES in the Terminal to enable it.
PETE4160 Brilliant!! I wish that I had found this earlier.
I was really looking for an exporter to a spreadsheet (eg Excel) but this did the trick. I copied the text file into Word, converted to a table, and took the file into Excel. Easy!!
SNAERBEAR I have been trying to convert my address book to CSV using address book exporter without any luck. The instructions are "To install this software, drag the icon to your application folder" I get the response the application folder can't be modified. I also got a file xxxxxx.CSV on the desk top which seems to be without any files and when I try and upload it to vertical response it quits with an error response. can someone help?thanks
ARBOURETUM Address Book Exporter 2.1.2. Works perfectly and quickly. Immediately solved a problem that I had trying to get a contact list to PC users. Why didn't Apple include this? Thanks. (Version 2.1.2)
CARWESG Hello, thank you BUT : Clicking on "export ALL" did not work when I tried to import the txt doc into Palm Desktop, the problem may be coming from Palm also. It only exported the addresses that were groups. It also duplicated cards (since some cards were in 2 or 3 # groups). Any suggestions? (Version 2.1.2)
WHITSONN I was going crazy trying to figure out how to get 800 contacts into a spreadsheet from Address Book. This was a time and lifesaver. Thanks. (Version 2.1.2)
