ANONYMOUS  hmm, still does not seem to be accurate - does not reflect changes in read emails removed from server and requires manual "reset" of message count which resets it to zero, even if there ARE still unread messages on the server. no good.

check out frogslapper if you can find it. sits in the dock, but a way better app if you can do without the scrolling ticker.

MARAUNDI  well, it took some doing, but i finally found a working link for frogslapper v2.11 (released 10/2000) - for those who want to check *that* little app out ... i haven't, so can't comment on it ...

VASILIS  I just tried frogslapper. You cannot delete mails on the server.

That's why MailTicker is so brilliant. It could use a minor update though...

TEXSPLEEN  I've been using MailTicker 0.5.2 under Tiger and have had no problems with it at all. Could not do without it.

Great way to scan my email before downloading.

Many thanks to the Developer.

MRSTEVEEE  This program would be very useful if it could check gmail and .mac accounts. Unfortunately, the developer's website is largly in German, and many sections of it are not accessible (error 404 forbidden). I really liked one of his other programs, "My Mind," but that can't be downloaded due to the same problem. What a shame.

ANONYMOUS  I think the developer must have stopped supporting this application. It is a very great shame as this is THE best pop email checking application out there. I was a dedicated user until 10.3.8 when it ceased to work and it would quit at startup. I know it's a free programme and I guess the developer has moved on to more exciting stuff but please, if at all possible, please bring the great MailTicker back to life...

ANONYMOUS  How about SSL option? Some servers will not let you connect without it.

TOPKNOT  Great little application. Small, unobtrusive and it does it's job perfectly.

I use it to check and empty my seldom-used POP accounts every now and then. It saves me having to download all the junk via my email client.

Highly Recommended.

MACGIZMO  Simple to set up, non-obtrusive, and it just works. I hope this developer continues to update this little gem.
