DESCRIPTION
jBidWatcher is a Java-based application allowing you to monitor auctions you're not part of, submit bids, snipe (bid at the last moment), and otherwise track your auction-site experience. It includes adult-auction management, MANY currencies (yen, pound, dollar [US, Canada, Australian, and New Taiwanese], Swiss Francs, and euro, presently), drag-and-drop of auction URLs, a unique and powerful 'multisniping' feature, a relatively nice UI, and is known to work cleanly under Linux, Windows, Solaris, and Mac OS X from the same binary.
Currently it is only implemented for eBay, but it is abstracted suitably to work with any online auction site with a minimum of changes.
It is under active development, and issues are quickly responded to. Bug reports and feature requests are always welcome, as are praise and complaints.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.0.1: Fixes include (in the order they got fixed):
- If the toolbar is hidden on startup, on platforms that support it, show the login status in the menu bar.
- Eliminate 'phantom' auctions, where it claims it's in the list, but you can't find it
- Some listings which got completely 'lost', are now found
- When debugging is enabled at startup, substantially deeper database debug logging is kept
- Snipes status should now be accurately visible in the UI
- If you change passwords or usernames, snipes can now be successfully cancelled and set during that same session
- Fix the freeze-on-startup with maxxed CPU problem; mainly happened with very large auction databases
- Recognize infinite redirects during 'test login' as most likely being captcha interference
- Add a 'License Details' Help menu entry, so folks know what the license for JBidwatcher is
- Finally fix the icon paths in the 'Colors and Icons' Help page
- Add a 'just to be sure' update at 30 seconds after the end of a sniped auction
JBidwatcher 2.x requires at least Java 1.5. This is available for
Windows and Linux across the board, but it means that OS X 10.4 or
later will be required for the Mac. I feel comfortable with two major versions back (So OS X 10.4 and 10.5, Java 1.5 and 1.6), as it combines the maximum number of people who will be able to use it, and
a relatively usable development environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

CHARLES TETON The best eBay snipper out there for the Mac... Period... This has yet to fail for me and picked up lots of bargains. Not sure why its still free, as other snipe apps, that don't work, charge quite a lot and I've bought most of them... Best of all jBidWatcher is now out of beta... Try it and make your own mind up... DB2 I have used JBidWatcher a number of times and it has worked perfectly. A very intuitive program to set up. Great product and one that I trust to handle my sniping. (Version 2.0)

ZX Forget the ridiculous 1997 Look&Feel...This thing is a mess!! It's just so buggy and not updated to the new eBay changes. Basicly it's not working! Note to the developer: Please redesign this thing ASAP (Xtorrent, Cha-Ching, THINGS...)! Than make it acutely do something useful like winning an auction... (Version 2.0b8)

HANSHAN I loved jbidwatcher. It's really a beautiful tool to watch and snipe on your auctions. Unfortunately it seems, the tool now is no longer working, due to some changes ebay has made (for more details read the author's comments on his site). I still hope it will soon negotiate the problems. It's by far the best ebay sniper I know.

SAJE I would love this program if it weren't so buggy! I've used it to successfully snipe two things, but I've consistently had problems with adding items, setting snipes, and deleting items--and never quite the same way twice. If you're very patient, this will work for you and the price is definitely right. Personally, I'll probably be looking at another option when I have the cash. (Version 2.0b7)

ALXVY I've used this for some time successfully but the last auction it failed to try to snipe leading to me missing the item, which sold for peanuts. There was no reason given, I might have forgiven it if the was some kind of error but instead it just didn't even try. The interface is not very good as well by the way, it could do with a more professional construction. I give this two stars due it's failure instead of the three or four if it had not failed to snipe, and am off to seek a more professional and reliable program. (Version 2.0b3)

GRENDELKHAN I don't think that I'll use this long term. I just tested the snipping capability of the software on an item I wanted but is listed regularly. It didn't snipe. Additionally, the default time between checking as you get close to the end of an auction is far too long. Price is right, functionality not quite what I'd like.... (Version 2.0b3)

JDB41 According to the developer's website, this will now require OS 10.4 or higher, as it uses Java 1.5. (Version 2.0b2)
