DESCRIPTION
IPNetTunerX is a modest application that allows you to optimize TCP/IP network performance under Mac OS X by tuning internal TCP/IP parameters to match your network environment. IPNetTunerX supports over 50 adjustable parameters including the TCP Window Size, Time Out intervals, Maximum Segment Size, and MTU.

Beyond adjusting parameters, IPNetTunerX provides tools for measuring the effect of your changes, and a Location Helper to make dynamic configuration easier.

Use our preconfigured settings for most common types of Internet connections. Or you can adjust your settings and save them in IPNetTunerX settings documents and invoke them each time you login.

While not all connections require tuning, it is often possible to improve network performance significantly by using the right parameters for your connection. IPNetTunerX makes it easy to experiment and see for yourself.

ESTELON  This application hurt network performance overall, and didn't restore my system to its previous (better) performance when I asked it to return to the defaults.

I have a cable modem connection that gets me 6 Mbits/second over a wired connection to nearby internet servers, and I was interested in seeing if I could improve download speeds from distant servers. After applying the presets for "Cable Modem", I began getting only 4 Mbits/second from the same nearby servers -- a 33% DECREASE in speed. After asking it to restore the defaults, I started getting less than 3 Mbits/second -- a 50% decrease from vanilla Mac OS X. And it's a little disturbing that when I asked it to turn itself off, instead what I got was further slowing of the connection.

A nice idea, not ready for prime time.  (Version 1.6.9)

DOM21  An already superfast cable connection made even faster by this app. And that's without any advanced tweaking. I'm impressed!   (Version 1.6.4)

MDAY108  For Pete's sake...I even tried to download from the author's site and was told that their FTP server is not recognized by my situation. I have NEVER gotten a message like this ever! Now I am cannot take teh day and test this out because I can't even download it and it's something that might really help me. Bah!  (Version 1.6.4)

MOK.IN.TOUCH™  After I updated this from v1.6c2 to v1.6c3, it wouldn't start up from login item. Don't tell me that I have to pay for the update since I paid for the v1.6c2

Very disappointing.  (Version 1.6c3)
