DESCRIPTION
Fugu gives secure SSH an GUI interface for command-line SFPT file tranfers. SFTP is a secure replacement for FTP: the session is encrypted via ssh, so nothing--most importantly passwords--is sent in the clear.

Fugu supports drag and drop uploads and downloads, and features a console that allows the user to interact directly with the commandline interface of sftp should he or she choose. Additionally, Fugu contains support for directory upload, which is not natively supported in OpenSSH's sftp.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.2:
  • new: promised file drags (drag and drop from remote pane to Finder)
  • update: additional FAQ entries
  • fix: valid paths for alternative OpenSSH installations
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.2.3 or later.

ALJUK  Works very well. The one improvement that would make this app perfect for me would be if it could remember a local directory path when I set a remote location as a favourite. So then when I log on to one of my servers, my local directory is also loaded and I'm ready to go.

ANONYMOUS  Fugu is really great. I have a few questions:

Is there a real need to use sheets for transfer progress? It would be nice if I could start multiple simultaneous transfers, or at least queue serial transfers, or even delete a remote file while transferring another file.

Can Fugu be made to support Growl?

I know it's a longshot, and outside of Fugu's planned scope, but could it support kerberized ftp (kftp and/or gssapi ftp)?

Thanks!

MAC8MYPC  I have a web client who only allows me to access his server via ssh (scp) to upload files. this little app saves me the frustration of doing it via the terminal.

ANONYMOUS  I have been a faithful user of Fetch since (I think) the mid 1990's but I have been somewhat disheartened since migrating to OSX a few years ago.

I am definitely in favor supporting shareware, but when there is another program out there that does the same job better and is cheaper (free in this case) then I'm going to go with that one.

Fugu simply does what I need it to do. Its stable, its easy and with my remote web-host going to ssh-only uploads, it allready suits that need as well.

ANONYMOUS  Great little gui for sftp/scp. No freezes, quite stable (unless I do silly things like removed files behind its back, most often).

JOND  Freezes. Freezes early, freezes often. Very experienced Unix user here, that must say I had high hopes for this software that did not pan out.

ANONYMOUS  If you've got problems, send them to the developers. MacUpdate isn't a bug reporting forum. Thanks!

PAVEL  I have been using it regularly for years now. It has always been rock solid. Hence the problem must be elswere.

ANONYMOUS  Fugu has always been rock solid for me (over a year and a half now) but I know how things can conflict with other things. I would suggest that the problem lies somewhere else in your system, rather than with Fugu.

DAVID  Yeah. I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, but Fugu has been my primary FTP client for easily a year or two (basically since it was first released) and I don't think I've seen it crash even once.

MACMANIAC  This is the best SSH software for Mac OS X. It makes remote UNIX website management a breeze! Thanks to the developers and keep up the good work!

PORK LOIN  Very nice example of what open source should be. I only wish there was a suitable companion for regular SSH sessions.

ANONYMOUS  Bought Transmit the other day, tried to use it to update my site - I had constant problems with the remote file list not updating as I switched directories.

Fugu did the job flawlessly.

ANONYMOUS  For resumable (mega)downloads throw a look at the command line tool curl (man curl). And there also is a nice GUI wrapper for curl: iDownload.

ANONYMOUS  Fugu also isn't a scanner driver, so if you want a scanner driver blah blah blah. Why post a pointless comment like that? RTFM! Fugu is NOT an ftp client!
