WRAITII  Man, that app's a true miracle. I had problems working with .material files ( of the OGRE3d Rendering engine ) with TextEdit or Xcode. The files just didn't work.

A simple opening/saving with this app solved my problems. Just gotta love it!

HALODEMO002  I wouldn't say this program is useless but I would say that Textedit can do all of this too and it's free. PLUS: You don't have to download it, it's already there! I don't see why I'd pay a shareware fee for something like this.

WASTED MY TIME  All this "developer power", what for?

TextEdit, Bean, Smultron, Textwrangler, etc., are better and they are free, so what for?

SYR WULLAM  Some features from the developer's website:

- It works with any kind of plain text files (text, source code, HTML, ...).

^^^ Ahh, cool! Smultron, TextWrangler, etc. does that ... for free!

- You can open recently opened files.

^^^ Really? ROFL!

- You can scroll forward and backward through all opened windows.

^^^ C'mon! ROFL!

- You can reload files from disk at any time.

^^^ Is that a unique feature with a text editor?!

- It has an unlimited number of undo.

^^^ No kidding!

- You can select the default font and default font size of the editor.

^^^ Erm, LOL! Smultron, etc. ... see above.

- You can select the default foreground color and default background color of the editor.

^^^ Great! I expected something like this for my money. Smultron, etc. ... see above.

- You can print your documents.

^^^ This is simply priceless!

And so on, and so forth. Welcome to the world of AlphaOmega products. Thanks but no thanks, I will stay with .

SYR WULLAM  Oops, last sentence got truncated:

I will stay with "insert the name of your favorite free text editor here".

SYZZYGY  It's all right for what it is, something basic and simple, but I just don't know why one would specifically choose Plain Text Editor over any number of other simple text editors out there.

There's a shareware fee of $20 for this which is ridiculous.

I would definitely choose the simple yet elegant, and FREE, "Smultron" over Plain Text Editor.

CHRISCHRAM  I see the price for this less than useful app has gone up to 15 euros. Lemme see. TextEdit is free. TextWrangler is free. Do you suppose anyone at all has ever purchased this product?

DXP  Pointless.... Just Pointless!

Why would you create a simple text editor with a few skimpy little features and make it shareware? PEOPLE: Just use TextEdit from Apple. This program is a waste of money, HD Space, and time. TextEdit can do better than this and it is FREE. And please MAKE YOUR OWN ICON! You are stealing another's. You could at least modify it a little.

Why make this Shareware??????

SPAM ON TOAST [AGAIN!]  i'd like to apologise for my previous 'knee-jerk reaction' review in which i may have somehow implied that 'PTE' was a 'POS'. i have since read the 'features' list and found that the app has the following amazing capabilities. i humbly apologise ! -

- You can open recently opened files.

- You can select the default font and default font size of the editor.

- You can print your documents.

- You can wrap and unwrap the text in the windows.
