DESCRIPTION
SIDPLAY is a Commodore 64 music player. It emulates the sound chip and other internals of the Commodore 64 home computer to play back music that was originally written on it. The sound chip was called the "Sound Interface Device" or SID, and therefore this music is known as SID music. The SID chip is basically a three voice synthesizer on a chip. The unusual combination of digital and analogue circuitry is the reason for its distinctive sound.

    YOSHINATSU  Unmatched piece of software!!

A must-have for any chiptune music lover!

It's like iTunes for SID files!

Or should I say... It's EVEN better! Cause SIDPLAY will download an entire SID file library for you, containing more than 34,000 songs!

TEKL  Great Release. The new filter distortion sound really realistic.

But the new playlists are annoying. I had a playlist with all Last Ninja songs. This list is now converted to a list with only 4 Songs as all subtunes are removed. I haven't found a way how to add more than one subsong of a tune to a playlist. This should be improved.

It would also be nice to have an equalizer like in iTunes to improve the bass and pressure.

Also the UI should be improved a bit. I'm missing a next song button for playlists or maybe global hotkeys. A short click on the fast forward button could skip to the next tune in the playlist.

Keep up the really great work.

TEKL  It seems they stopped development. Does it work under Rosetta?

Creating Playlist could alo be improved. It's a pain to create playlist with every subsong of one sid-file.

ROLLINGFLO  Gives the best experience for SIDs, the integration of HVSC is exemplary, the interface is Mac-like and browsing works as you would expect it from the Finder and/or iTunes.

I didn't find any bugs in the current version.

If you are a SID or Commodore 64 Fan or just interested in "hardcore" digital music, go ahead and try this out - nothing beats the charme of the ancient soundchip and SIDPLAY brings it to your Mac in the best way possible.
