DESCRIPTION
Clone X is specially designed to create a copy of your system, to duplicate it on other disks or computers, and to repair and reinstall the system in case of problems (damaged system, errors during installation, etc.)

With Mac OS X, the system is now a very complex construction. It is no longer confined within the OS 9 System folder, but is distributed all around multiple folders, most of them being inaccessible (invisible, protected or permission denied). Moreover, any copy or installation must preserve permissions and ownership of each file.

Clone your System: Clone'X provide powerfull features to analyze your System (OS X and OS 9), to execute a full copy (a clone) of your System, even if the system was installed and updated many times with the updaters provided by Apple. The clone is saved in an external drive, CD-R as well as a part of your internal disk. The clone is compressed to save disk space, and you can create as many clones as you need.

Repair your System: Starting from this clone, Clone'X will be able at any time to repair your system if damaged, or if some data was lost, or an installation has corrupted your System. You'll have your System back to its original state. Repair operation is undoable!

Recreate identical Systems on other disks: With the copy of your original System realized by Clone'X, you can install a similar system on other disks or other computers, preserving your own configuration and settings.

Upgrades from version 3.x.x are free. You can dowload a free demo version on our website.

FORMICA  Not a single thing about this massively overpriced junk that cannot be done better with FREE or donateware apps. Stay away.

MARKOH  $49 seems a bit pricey compared to Carbon Copy Cloner which is DonateWare. Maybe Clone X 3.1.1. has some extra special features which CCC does not have... but $49? Yikes :)

TOZZO  BootCD says it does not work with 10.4. This is a better option.

FORMICA  It's not a better option, heck, it's not even an option at $49, especially while the developer of Carbon Copy Cloner 3.2.1 allows us to use it full-featured FOR FREE (just by clicking Help > Donate to Bombich Software > I paid), though if you have any principles, you'll donate at least the recommended $10.

First of all, I am in no way associated with Bombich Software, I just really appreciate that they make an irreplaceable, constantly updated, full-featured backup/cloning app available for free if you really can't afford it. CCC has been one of the most lauded apps available since at least January of 2002 (check the reviews on VersionTracker.com to see them all since the beginning, or to read all the professional reviews just do a Google search on Carbon Copy Cloner). It's not the very BEST backup app available (like most, I prefer SuperDuper! or Synk, but you MUST pay for those), but CCC is by far the very best donationware backup app available, hands down, and it's the ONLY FREE ONE THAT MAKES FULL, BOOTABLE CLONES. And after you've made your fully bootable clone, later you can make quick, incremental backups to it that maintain its bootability and cloniness (to coin a lame term). Oh, did I mention that it is UNHOBBLED DONATIONWARE?

DAI YI  $49 for this? Sorry, I haven't tried it yet. But it would be hard pressed to be superior to applications such as CCC.

You've really got to be kidding.

AMACGURU  The author of Clone X (any version) must hold the record for bogus plaudits (praise) planted in this review list!

Thankfully, I lost only two CD-Rs in my attempts to get it to function. Only ONE of the utilities I added (within the Clone X app) actually launched!

Highly irritating to deal with the French language interface when the CD booted!

No Dock; No access to the Desktop; generally hopeless.

BootCD 0.6.4 actually works! Just create the Bootable CD in Panther (OS X 10.3.x): the CD works perfectly in Panther AND Tiger:

I've got DiskWarrior 3.0.3; Drive Genius 1.1; Data Rescue II 1.1.1 and Disk Utility 10.4 all working happily from my bootable CD! AND I have a Dock; Desktop; access to mounted drives can run other apps and more from the bootable CD! Ignore the get-rich-quick Frenchman and his tacky software.

DELDOTVEE  Considering the free tools that are out there (Carbon Copy Cloner and BootCD) the author(s) are asking an exorbitant price for their software. They must be hoping that there is a sucker born every minute.

ANONYMOUS  DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM.

in wost cases It destroys all other data on your backup disk.

(Even if the files/folders are locked)

Futhermore when you back up your disk it's okey, but when you want to to restore back lots of errors occour.

Mr. Developer.

You have to do much better than this

WIZZARDP1  I have been using the Tri-Edre's Clone X product since the beginning. It has always worked well. The first version was a little slow in performance but version 2.X has been great. Version 2.X does support external FW burners as I use a plextor and have had no trouble at all. Excellent product and with Tri-edre's Backup product, you have an team of great products to ensure your data and system are safe and sound.

DPG4450GUY  Well, the "make a bootable CD" feature in 2.0.0 has so far only succeeded in making coasters.

The Apple logo appears, and the Darwin spinner runs a while, but invariably the "no" circle/slash symbol appears.

Whatever it is they are doing, it doesn't appear to be very stable. Also, the disk image format they are using is not supported by Toast 5 or DiscBlaze. Not too smart, guys.

BADLY needs external FW burner support.

Anyway, it seems to back up data fine, but not moreso than Bombich's CarbonCopyCloner, and that's "free."

Had really high hopes for this, but they've not worked out their bugs for bootable CD creation (yet?)
