netTunes lets you control iTunes running on one Macintosh from another, using iTunes' native interface. You get the same main window, the same playlists, the same search capabilities.
Now less purple than ever! Intel based servers no longer color their iTunes purple. Sorry, Prince!
Universal - now Intel compatible. netTunes is now fully compatible with both Intel and Power PC based Macintoshes.
Faster! Improved vectorization has made this version of netTunes faster on both Intel and Power PC Macs.
iTunes fixes. Recent versions of iTunes changed the behavior of the minimize and restore apple events; netTunes has been adjusted to track and restore these states properly.
ACOYNE I don't understand what this does that isn't accomplished simply by turning on "Share my music" in iTunes. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? (Version 2.3.1)
STRIDER72 My big computer with the big hard drive and all my media is piping music upstairs to my stereo with the good speakers.
I'm upstairs sitting on my couch, working on my laptop and listening to music.
With iTunes sharing, I could get the music playing on my wimpy laptop speakers. With this app, I can control what the _other_ Mac is playing, meaning I can control what's playing through the good speakers.
Heh. Think of it as the poor man's Apple TV. (Actually, this is more portable, so even that's not quite true.) (Version 2.3.1)

ANONYMOUS doesn't work for me on any computer running Tiger and itunes 4.9 (Version 2.2(1003))
STEVEN This software gets the job done using an attractive intuitive interface. It is similar to using Apple Remote Desktop except you only see the iTunes interface and not the entire remote computer. I previously used iHam on iRye. iHam could not handle my large music collection (over 5000 songs) but Nettunes handles it flawlessly. For the cost of a clock radio, you get a peice of software that will let you control iTunes on any remote Mac. Hook up an old iMac to your stereo and use you WiFi equipped laptop and you've got quite a solution. Unlike much of my other software, this application has worked flawlessly since the moment I installed it. (Version 2.0.5(980))
BOB D I have used NetTunes from OSX10.2 thru OSX10.3.2. The author has updated it regularly and was helpful the one time I had a problem.
It has always worked fine and has the best interface for controlling Itunes over a network. What can be better than Itunes for controlling Itunes. My setup is a music server controlled by another Mac over the network as well as i wireless link to my portable.
I like the fact that I can edit the info remotely (such as artist and album) as well as control the music. (Version 2.04)
DAVE NANIAN netTunes Users: if you're having trouble with netTunes, please *contact me* before slamming netTunes here on MacUpdate.
I have no problem with bad reviews "on netTunes' merits", so to speak -- that's fine. But give me a chance to get you working before saying "it doesn't work". That's why we're here -- to help users!
HILFRIG As a new mac convert, my server is still windoze that houses thousands of songs. However, I want the flexibility of updating star ratings remotely from my iBook (as I listen over airtunes :) ). Is anyone aware of a solution to help me do this? (Version 2.2(1003))

MATT SMITH Seems like a great idea, but I can't get it to work, except to serve itunes from a computer to itself. Client sees the server after about a minute of spinning, then spins again when you try to launch itunes. (Version 2.03)
DAVE NANIAN Matt -- sounds like you've got your firewall turned on, and haven't locked down the netTunes port, or punched a hole in the Firewall for it. This is in the FAQ in the help file, if you want to take a look.
Why not drop me a note at support-at-shirt-pocket.com?I'll be happy to help you get netTunes running.
Thanks. (Version 2.04)
