ANONYMOUS  Why is it every Apple update breaks one Application or another ?

Are Apples programers realy that stupid ?

Im thinking of telling Apple to shove there OS up there A**

I may just kill os X and get a nice version of Lunix to run who wants a OS that messed up every time it's updated.

oh and thanks for breaking my firewall also Apple. and thanks for haveing stuipd people working for you. it would probly help if you tested your garbage updaters on a few systems before releaseing them it's not like it's that hard for your developers to find a apple computer to test this junk on. you only own the company...

YOUAREFUNNY  For a person who can't spell nor use punctuation correctly, you are mighty loose with the word "stupid".

And, what apps became "broken"? You neglected to articulate, other than mentioning a firewall, and you did not even say which firewall app.

ANONYMOUS  Installed 10.3.9 combo update on G5.

    I'm using the server version.

It came with a firmware update for the internal DVD burner.

After this (though not nec. because of it) I can't boot from the install CD. I've tried different CDs, same result. Gray screen, split apple icon.

Oh yeah and Mozilla won't run. I don't care which browser I use, though. But Fugu won't run either, that's annoying.

ANONYMOUS  This update works for me as well as any and all updates of OS X since 10.1.5. It just WORKS and is totally stable. All my apps work as ever.

People that can't maintain their Macs properly will always have issues.

I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

MATT  This is the worst update I've seen. I am having more stability issues and more kernal panics than with any previous update. I am not going to move to Tiger because I no longer believe that apple is releasing stable, reliable updates. Stay away from this one.

ANONYMOUS  Horrible. I installed the 10.3.9 upgrade on my stable PowerBook G4, and have been unable to reboot ever since. This, depite permission repair from Apple System CD Installer, etc.

JONRELAY  I don't know why so many people are having problems with 10.3.9. When I updated everything worked perfectly, aside from the Java issue which was fixed in a later update. I don't know about Safari because I have extreme prejudice against it. BTW the Safari icon keeps reappearing in my Dock every time I restart, and I'd like to stop this Microsoft-esque product-pushing from happening; how do I stop it?

KELLY  Since updating OS X Safari has changed. It used to be possible to open a link in a new window by clicking Cmd+Link.

Now this no longer seems to work. Instead one has to double-click to make it happen. Looking at the Prefs > Tabs it still gives the same key command. Is there a way to resolve this?

SOLIDUPDATE4ME  Since this update was released, I have applied it to four different Macs, only one of which is mine. I applied the Combo updater (of course) to my Mac on the day of the update's release, as soon as it was downloaded.

Over the course of the following days I applied the update to three other Macs. None of them had any trouble with this update. And Safari is better/faster than ever.

I am well aware of the issues that some have experienced with this update. I am also well aware that Apple responded quickly with various methods to fix the Java issue, including a downloadable fix.

PRINCE  The WORST update ever! Since I installed this trash, I've had nothing but problems. Limewire starts up with bizzare grids and lines forming though it (never saw that before, ever), and Safari will quit if I open and close a window! Who knows what other awful things it's done to my system? Don't download, repeat, DO-NOT-DOWNLOAD!

ESTASCABRON  Let me guess... You've been living under a rock or otherwise in total isolation since this update was released.

If you had done any little bit of research, you'd know how to fix these issues. The information is all over the web, at the usual popular Mac websites and forums. Has been for days. Simple fixes are available.

The update worked perfectly for me. On four different Macs: (2) iBooks, (2) G5 iMacs.

LARRY KLEIN  Well I guess I don't have many 3rd party apps installed, but I will say again that the speed boost for safari makes this the best update for Panther yet. Emac 1gz.
