RORO01  It could have been the best note pad application if it wasn't the slowest OSX application I've ever encountered!!!

RORO01  I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that if the application could store each note in a separate file in Application Support, or elsewhere in the library, it would have been much quicker.

Other important features which are lacking are: copy/paste style, spell check, use of the the system font panel and colour palettes, make link, lists (numbered or bulleted).

Finally, I would like to thank the developer for this product which I've been using for more than a year.

RORO01  Email Note button doesn't work properly - copying only part of the note to the mail client.

RORO01  THE BEST NOTE PAD APPLICATION!!!

Many, many thanks to the developer. I checked the application thoroughly and everything is working perfectly. Now it is possible to back up to the same location, the application remembers the path to the backup location, font changes are saved, if you select text you can get information about it and the developer sorted the problem of speed, as I've suggested to him below, by making the application store each note in a separate file in the user library. However, there is still room for improvements:

1. Doesn't support copy/paste style.

2. No spell check.

3. Doesn't use the system colour palettes.

4. Can't make links.

5. Can't make lists (numbered or bulleted).

RORO01  The "Other ..." option under the pull down menu of the colour button should activate the system colour palettes.

GAZMAN  Best Notepad ever? You've just listed five absolute deal-breakers for me. How come it doesn't use the built in spellchecker?

RORO01  I obviously agree with you about the spellchecker, however, these shortcomings are not deal-breakers.

CHRISWAN  IMHO, the best overall Note management app which doesn't cost a dime (donation requested)

I always coming back to this app, after trying other similar apps

Too bad the main/GUI icon and overall interface hasn't been optimized for Leopard...

Really looking forward for next release

RORO01  SPELL CHECK

I would be very grateful if the developer would add "spelling" to the Edit menu.

JAN_RYBAR  I'm sorry, my text went little bit out of order: MemoBlock just fully destroys all characters with caron (http://diacritics.typo.cz/index.php?id=5).

JAN_RYBAR  I do not think that all central and southern European languages are just 0.1%. :( I do not know ANY Mac OS X software with such a bug - we live in a unicode world, don't we?

PowerPC and Intel OS X 10.4.9 (US version) do this:

áéíóú???žš? -> áéíóúu?c?r?z?s?e?

BLOCKSOFT  In response to the comment below regarding diacritic characters, MemoBlock does handle the majority of diacritic characters correctly, and most users will have no problems using umlauts, circumflexes, accents and so on. There does appear to be a problem with some characters, including the caron (?), which I shall look into. For languages which do not use that particular diacritic however, there is no problem, and 99% of users can use MemoBlock without issue.

JAN_RYBAR  MemoBlock would be great, but it is useful only for English speaking people. If you try to write a word containing diacritics (měči), it will transform it to mˇeˇci. :((

BLOCKSOFT  Thanks for your feedback. I had not noticed this issue as the majority of diacritic characters are saved correctly by MemoBlock. Have you found any other problematic characters?

Thanks

MACMARIA  This is a great piece of freeware. I like its interface and the easiness of use. The notice/alarm option is very helpful. I also like the way it stays above all applications when minimized (very handy when taking small notes). From my use it seems very stable (no crashes or weird behaviour).

If I'm still using it in two months, I'll donate. :)

PS. I only wish it would organize the notes automatically and not only by hand, but well... from all the note app that I've used so far, this one and xPad are the only ones that I've really enjoyed.

BLOCKSOFT  Thanks for your comments. I am looking at adding options for sorting notes, although this will require a lot of behind the scenes work to implement. I hope to have this done for an update by the end of May however.
