About Security Update 2008-004
Security Update 2008-004 is recommended for all users and improves the security of Mac OS X. Previous security updates have been incorporated into this security update.
DVH The fine print indicates this update is for: Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Mac OS X 10.5 - 10.5.3. This update is rolled into Mac OS X 10.5.4. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222) (Version )
DANA SUTTON This showed up on MacUpdate about an hour after OSX.5.4, and I wish either Apple or the good people at MU could clarify the relation of the two releases. Is this a security update in addition to the security improvements in X.5.4 (that should be used by everybody) or only to be used by people who, for whatever reason, do not care to make the upgrade? Or is this for Tiger? The fact that Software Upgrade ignores this suggests the latter, but it would be nice to be told. (Version )
LEFTUNKNOWN This update came up on my wives ibook G4 Software Updates and she downloaded as we all do whatever SU says. The download hung up or quit during "optimizing system performance" and she restarted the computer and tried again with "success." Now, the ibook is junked up. itunes & safari won't open (who knows what else). The menu bar is missing airport and time/date. I try to verify the HD from the install disc and all I get are errors. Currently trying to run disk warrior but its hanging up and says "speed inhibited by disk malfunction." I've read that even if i reformat the HD, the issue might just return (i.e. never go away). If anyone can help, please do. (Version )
