DESCRIPTION

MUMenu is a menubar item application that will check periodically for daily Mac OS X software updates at MacUpdate. You'll be able to browse small descriptions of the updated products, go to More Info pages, and download them. Highlighted updates (Hot Picks) are highlighted in red, and applications that are already installed on your Mac will display its appropriate icon. When a new update is posted, MUMenu icon in the menu bar will change color.

Problems? If MUMenu does not perform properly in any way, quit it and trash its preferences file (do a Find for "com.macupdate.mumenu.plist"), then relaunch MUMenu.

Note: Requests for additional features will not be followed through unless many people request the same feature. We don't want to bloat the software. We take the 37signals.com approach to software. Lean and mean.

GEORGE PAPHITIS  It is 1:55 PST and MU Menu is not updating either by manual or periodic setting. I concur with Archmission something is a miss since yesterday when I first noticed it. I am using OS 10.4.11 on an early Intel iMac.

MISHA  We're investing this. It's working fine (version 2.1.2) at my end right now and has been throughout the day.

ARCHMISSION  I removed MUMenu from my start up and then have loaded it this morning and it updated. I will verify if it updates through out the day, but it seems to be working again...

ARCHMISSION  I have been running all morning with it set to update every 15 minutes. It is not updating at all this morning.

ARCHMISSION  Oops, I meant 30 minute updates. It has not updated throughout the day and even when I manually update it, it does not update.

FYI, Desktop does not seem to be updating the communities either. Could this be a web access issue? While not connected, maybe something is similar. Just speculating.

It only updates when I shutdown MUMenu and restart it. Beyond that, it will not update anymore.

I have been on Snow Leopard since it came out so this did not seem to be an issue with SL.

FLASH1296  The GOOD news is that the RSS FEEDS from both MacUpdate and Version Tracker can reside in a NewsReader like NetNewsWire.

FLASH1296  At least for now, the best that I can figure out, is to use an RSS FEED from VERSIONTRACKER as an alternative with a menubar-resident drop down RSS Reader.

Any other notions from anyone ?

FLASH1296  I have been using MUMenu for a very long time, but now it has stopped working in that it will NOT update.

MacUpdate5.0 is the last application listed.

JOEL MUELLER  Desktop 5 and MUMenu aren't connected in anyway. None of the resources are shared between the two solutions. I'm currently running MUMenu and Desktop 5 on my Mac without issues.

My guess is that you see MacUpdate Desktop 5 as the top listing and aren't noticing that the new releases are being updated below the top sponsored listing.

ARCHMISSION  Actually Joel, that is partly the case. I see it as the top listing, but the listing below is not updating at all. the list shows up as the same list for over a day. I have stopped running MUMenu today and will try it again tomorrow to see it it changes at all.

ACCOUNTCLOSED  Same here, Joel. It's not that the top item (MacUpdate Desktop 5.0) is keeping itself at the top of the list, giving the impression that the list isn't updating. The entire MUMenu list has fallen well behind the updates showing on the MU site. In other words, it isn't updating. Glad you aren't having issues with this, but a number of users suddenly are. Please look into the problem further.

MISHA  Version 2.1.2 is a universal binary. You must be using an older version -- please upgrade.

LARRYMCJ  I will obviously keep using MUMenu because it does alert me to updates for installed apps. HOWEVER...I can't be the only person that notices the menu bar icon turns yellow (falsely) about ten times a day and nothing is updated...they just want you to look at the specials at the bottom of the list.
