GALE (AUDACITY TEAM) Unfortunately, importing AIFFs (other than created by Audacity) may cause a freeze on some Mac systems. We have already committed a possible fix for this to our source code. If you could help us test the fix, please go here: http://audacity.homerow.net/index.php?dir=mac and install the build at the bottom of the file list. Let us know if this fixes it for you. Alternatively you could convert the AIFF files to WAV in iTunes, and then import the WAVs: # Open iTunes > Preferences # Click on the leftmost "General" tab # Click the "Import Settings" button half way down on # In the "Import Using" dropdown, choose "WAV Encoder" # Control-click over the file you want to convert > "Create

MONKEYJUNKEY Thanks to the developer team for finally fixing many bugs that have kept me from using Audacity for a while (e.g. the MP3 export produced wrong times/length and so forth). But now when I try to open a aiff-file with Audacity the application starts and instantly hangs-up. Am I the only one with this problem? Would be great if this could be fixed. (Version 1.3.7b)

DGOMBAU Yes - I am having the same problem. It is a 2 minute AIFF file created from SonicFire Pro, and I am on a MBP 2.6 with Leopard. (Version 1.3.7b)

LARAINE All I wanted to do was clip the beginning and end off something my husband recorded onto a DVD for me (from satellite radio) and put onto a DVD for me. I had already stripped the audio using MPEG_Streamclip, but if there was any way to edit the length on that program I couldn't work it out. Anyway, I had worked out (in iTunes) where I wanted my AIFF file to start and end. Audacity did the job beautifully, even if I had to make a few attempts to get it to accept the times I typed in. I don't expect to need the program again, however. I wouldn't have needed it in the first place if EMI had had the decency to reissue the CD. I have been trying for years to buy it second-hand without success. (Version 1.3.6b)

DANIEL CHUA Hi all, there seems to be lag always of about 2 sec between clicking the record button and having the recording done, which can really affect recording. This is despite using a MBP core 2 duo intel with 4 gb ram. (Version 1.3.6b)

MACGUY_81 Audacity is a really great tool but it has always been a bit buggy when I've used it. I personally switched to Amadeus. But Audacity is definitely worth looking into! (Version 1.3.5d)

DRUMMIST53 Ever since I installed version 1.35 I cannot playback any audio. All I get is hiss. I'm running a Mac G4 and have never had this problem with earlier versions...Perhaps it has something to do with this portaudio v19 I see on my output setting for my core output?? Meanwhile this program is now useless to me. (Version 1.3.5)

JON55 So, is the development on this pretty much dead or what? I mean it's an awesome app, so that would be a huge shame. But it could use some work. (Version 1.3.3)

CHOSEN716 I downloaded Audacity when I had MAC OS 10.3.9, however I recently bought Leapord so I am now running MAC OS 10.5, and Audacity will not open. When I click to open it it says, "You cannot open the application "Audacity" because it is not supported on this architecture." Also the icon has a circle with a line throuch it over the image of the headphones. I have concluded that the newest version of Audacity is not supported by MAC OS 10.5 and probably only 10.4, Please update! (Version 1.3.3)

JON55 That's BS. I'm running Audacity 1.3.3b on Leopard 10.5.5 right now and it works awesome (and has been for several months). (Version 1.3.6b)
