DESCRIPTION
iText is a cute text editor with simple word processing, fitting the charming iMac's colorful-design. It has stability and lots of nice features selected from LightWayText. iText is very popular and is loved by many Japanese, because it has High Speed, is Cool, Fantastic, and Simple! Yes, it's Yummy! iText supports importing and exporting Rich Text Format files (RTF), and iText-X fully complies with Mac OS 10.5 including a spell checker.
You will find that iText is widely used, from programming to the writing of various documents, in any language not only English and Japanese. With Key-registration, iText can be upgraded to iTextPro, besides.

RUMOUR I have used iText in the "Pro" version for years, but was very frustrated that there was not a Universal Binary version available. This had caused me to recently start using Bean (another simple and excellent text tool with good options) far more often than iText. I just found out through a comment on that app's page that the developer has created a UB version of "iText Pro '08" as well as iText Express, which is available at: http://homepage.mac.com/lightway/download/itext_express_30.dmg.zip Although English language documentation is lacking, and I still need to update many preferences and tweaks with the new program, it works fine, and I am once again entirely content with my favorite word processor.

TOMIS If you want that 1995 MacOS 8 feel to your text editing, check this app out! On the other hand, if you prefer to get your work done without a silly cumbersome interface giving you a headache, you already have Text Edit.

RUBAIYAT I suggest you try iText Express (free) by the same author, which is TextEdit on steroids. Each of Michiaki's programs has its own strengths and this will be seen as more appropriate for Japanese users. My favorite of the lot is iText Pro '09 and I consider it my favorite program on my Mac, I do just about everything with it. It is just brilliant.

ROY SHOEMAKER I find iText to be a smooth, simple and easy to use text editor. It is much superior to TextEdit in opening simple text files; especially the "Read Me"s that come with all software installers. Additionally it adds more in flexibility and customization than TextEdit.

VIVALDI As a matter of fact, MrAndre, iTextEdit does do a few more things than Apple's TextEdit, and that's why I've preferred it through several versions, including the latest. Perhaps if you hadn't taken your grumpy pill this morning you could have calmed down enough to explore some of its features lacking in TextEdit: 3. Word, character, etc counts 4. Greater flexibility in layout choices 5. Option to show invisible marks .... But then no one is forcing you to use the floating tool or do the free download, so I don't quite know what your problem is with the mere existence of iText. As to the "ugly-ass" interface, aesthetics is a personal matter, isn't it? As for me, I much preferer ugly interfaces to people putting on their ugly faces to rant on software reviews. We can do without the "ugly American blowhard" attitude (oh, excuse me, perhaps you're an ugly French blowhard instead?) | |

ROBIN WIENANDS I finally feel I must say something. I have been using this app from its first release and still have it! I love to see it updated and supported because this is so fast and simple, but yet powerful. Surprisingly, I never upgraded to the Pro version, but that's because I never really felt the need. Anyway, keep up the good work!

KALKI This App remains my favorite text tool, and though I have used MS Word for years I only do so grudgingly on a few things, and much prefer the SPEED and simplicity of this program for almost all my daily text work.
