CENOCRE  Very useful idea that should have been part of he OS. It's hard to believe that we have not been using voice notes for years.

The design needs lots of help both in function and looks. The interface really sucks, with too many windows, it is like each window was designed by a different person and the main window is WAY too big with useless graphics and HUGE buttons. It's inconsistent in style and has big functional hole. Too bad as this could have been good.

Why is there no window/view that lists all the recordings in one quick view?

JOEL MUELLER  (From user PRAMIN MacUpdate) Easy to use, intuitive interface (but it can be improved, because the stop and pause symbols are not right), customizable features, good integration with QuickTime Pro, audio editor and e-mail client.

Recorded messages can quickly be stored and retrieved in user defined groups and can also be accessed from the Finder as QuickTime files.

Perfect stability on my iMac G5 PPC.

Can be triggered within any application from the menu bar (a hot key would be great), but the interface remains hidden.

The recorded sound is crystal clear.

It lacks quick ways to hide and show and to switch between internal microphone, audio in port and other sources (you have to go to the application Sound Preferences or to the System Preferences).

A warning for you MacUpdate people: you posted this very same application twice!

Once as "QuickVoice for OSX 2.1.1" and also as "QuickVoice X 2.1.1 -":

You should appriopriately merge the related information, reviews and ratings.

MEECHEEM  Very, very annoying. I was having trouble with my previous version of quickvoice so I decided to spend the money and bought the 2.0.4 Upgrade, hoping that the glitch would get fixed. Big mistake. The sound is "jumping" every 3 to 5 secs. that makes the recording unusable. In the past they had replied to my request for help. But then, at some point they no longer did. I always send requests through their "comments" page at qquick-voice.com. I sent several messages... months ago. Never got one reply. It sucks!!!

They don't even have a phone # on the website!

Anyone got this kind of trouble???

MIKE@NFINITY  Michele (meechem) is not telling the whole story. We have in fact corresponded with her many, many times. The problem is that she is running a very dated G3 with the latest 10.4 operating system (quite a stretch). She says she doesn't have problems with her other programs but a iPhoto or Mail X will simply slow down but still work. Capturing audio (and compressin simultaneously) is differnt. The skipping is her machine not being ale to keep up with capturing the audio. In our last email we told her we don't know how to hlp her specific issue. We asked that she try using "No Compression" but we have not received a response back.

PETER WYSE  Quickvoice works fine on my Powerbook but on my Imac G5 it causes a kernel panic every time I hit the record button. Contacted the help desk but they gave up after a couple of failed suggestions. Anyone got any ideas ?

MACUPDATE ADMIN  You should tell everyone what those failed suggestions were so they aren't repeated here.

JEFF YATES  Following on from the previous post, I emailed the support address and received a prompt reply pointing me to a link and including a license key. This was much appreciated. Apparently they could find no record of my attempts to contact them, although I was using the contact form on their website - maybe something wrong with it??

Anyway, I am now upgraded to version 2 and happliy using the product.

JEFF  I purchased Quickvoice on 3/28/05 (Version 1). Just over 1 month later version 2 was released, which is a paid-for upgrade. I left 2 messages via their website feedback page requesting a free upgrade (considering the relatively short time between purchase and the new version coming out) but had no replies, other than a few emails encouraging me to pay for the upgrade.

I know I'm not entitled to a free upgrade, but a reply would have been courteous. So I've decided to vote with my wallet - it's my money, and I won't be spending any more of it with this company.

JEFF  Well, I got a reply from the developer who had no record of my queries. He was happy to give me the upgrade so I believe the company has redeemed itself and I am happy once again.

Thanks

JIM BISHOP  Nope. Sorry.

Downloading the old version again, and reinstalling, DOES NOT fix the problem!

The software will not accept my name and the old registration number doesn't work.

The program does not work any more.

It is easy to avoid my problem (Unless, as with me, it is congenital.). Don't load the new program on top of the old one unless you are ready to pay for it. If you are where that takes time, as in China, you will have nothing at all for an extended period.

MIKE  Jim,

I loaded your keycode into QuickVoice 1.8 at www.quick-voice.com/QVX.dmg.sit and it works fine. Did you enter name as well? That's important. Your code will not take otherwise.

Alos, I did try to respond to your support request email this morning and this evening butboth were kicked back as unreturnable. Might have something to do with the fact that you are in China?

ANONYMOUS  Many thanks for the reply.

What do you show as my name?

Please send me that data via jim.bishop@gmail.com.

I show a greyed out reg number on the prompt and have tried every iteration of my name I can think of to go with it and nothing works.

Maybe it is China.

MIKE  License holders of a previous version of QuickVoice should not concerned about trying QuickVoice 2.0. QUICKVOICE 2.0 DOES NOT DISABLE ANY PREVIOUS VERSIONS. That can only happen by manually deleting or overwriting it.

If someone accidently loses their older version and would like it back it can still be downloaded from its original location at http://www.quick-voice.com/QVX.dmg.sit.

JIM BISHOP  You email page does not work from China, at least.

I am James Bishop

Hamish@mindspring.com

I purchased a copy of your Quickvoice program a long time ago and use it once in a while. Nice job! I downloaded the new iteration and it disabled the old one when I loaded it. Now, having downloaded the old one again, it will not accept any iteration I can think of of my name. Thus the greyed out old reg number is of no use. Sorry to be so block headed, but what now?

Can you send me my original registration info?

I will pay for the new issue as soon as I can get the old one working again.
