DESCRIPTION
FruitMenu is a haxie that gives you the ability to customize the Apple Menu and contextual menus. Using a visual editor you can edit the contents of the menus to suit your needs and taste.

FruitMenu will also display the contents of the FruitMenu Items folder inside of your Library folder, launch applications and shell scripts from the Apple Menu and contextual menus, to allow easy file navigation and launching.

To make the haxie completely flexible and customizable, you can assign hotkeys to particular menu items.

Version 3.7.1:
  • Addressed a problem that caused Recent Folders to not appear on 10.5.
  • Added French translation provided by Bernard Rey.

SIGIL  If you own iPaste, be warned it has some minor issues with it. (Contextual Menu issue)

DOOBIEXX  long time ipaste user and never experienced any problems with fruitmenu going.

That being said, I have moved away from ipaste to launchbar and everything flows beautifully.

SIGIL  That's interesting. Well, when I have both loaded at the same time, I get duplicate (multiple) iPaste contextual menu entries.

ROBERT COOGAN  Changes only took place after logout/login (no surprise there). But the contextual menu items will not display, it stays with the OS default settings. Also the Apple Menu will not display "Recent Applications" alone (my preferred setting), it only shows the default "Recent Items." Not sure why, but it's no big deal.

MARK_CAIRNS  3.7beta5 works a treat for me.

As Unsanity haven't listed the changes for the last couple of Betas over the past week or so as yet, here they are:

Version 3.7b5 (August 6th, 2008)

- Note: The price of FruitMenu has increased from $10 to $12.

- Maybe sped up application launch a little. Please email us if you notice any problems with icons displaying in the FruitMenu enhanced Apple menu.

- Includes APE 2.5b2.

Version 3.7b4 (July 30th, 2008)

- Note: The price of FruitMenu has increased from $10 to $12.

- In removing deprecated API calls, accidently stopped resolving aliases in the FruitMenu Items folder (it'd resolve the alias, then ignore the result). This has been fixed. Sadly, this also means there may be a significant increase in application launch speed if you have a large hotkey prescan setting.

- You can tell the how long the scanning of FruitMenu Items takes by looking in the console (/Application/Utilities/Console) and looking at the line below "CreateMenuItem: FruitMenuItems"

Version 3.7b3 (July 28th, 2008)

- Note: The price of FruitMenu has increased from $10 to $12.

- Removed all references to QuickTime. Now uses the superior ImageIO functionality to work with images. This has an unintended side effect of decreasing FruitMenu's load time at application launch.

- Removed a lot of deprecated APIs and replaced them with modern, non-deprecated versions.

- Removed some calls to the private CPS (CoreProcesses) APIs when there was a public replacement (many CPS functions still lack a replacement in 10.5.x).

- Changed the gather option to choose a folder name based on the current user's locale settings.

- Added some spin locks.

- Significantly reduced application launch time by only loading preference panes on demand.

PROFINITE  Since v1, I have owned and used this utility and have been extremely satisfied with the features it offers.

The developer's communication has been superb, responding to my questions, suggestions, and possible bug reports.

I can hardly imagine a day without FruitMenu on the three Mac's that I use daily.

PROFINITE  For those who believe that Unsanity does not respond to inquiries, I suggest that you read the announcement in the yellow box at the top of their blog page that has existed for months now:

http://www.unsanity.org/archives/betas/enthusiastic_trepidation.php

I own FontCard, FruitMenu, Menu Master, and WindowShade. All of their betas have worked well with Leopard on multiple Mac's.

ED HENNINGER  Try as I might, I can't get FruitMenu to give me Recent Folders. I'm wondering if it's a preference or whatever that I need to adjust.
