DESCRIPTION
FruitMenu is a haxie that gives you the ability to customize the Apple Menu and contextual menus. Using a visual editor you can edit the contents of the menus to suit your needs and taste.

FruitMenu will also display the contents of the FruitMenu Items folder inside of your Library folder, launch applications and shell scripts from the Apple Menu and contextual menus, to allow easy file navigation and launching.

To make the haxie completely flexible and customizable, you can assign hotkeys to particular menu items.

EASER  From their website blog: "Unsanity is still hard at work on Snow Leopard compatibility for the rest of our stuff and will be announcing availability as things become ready. Look for posts from Slava and Rosyna about WindowShade, FruitMenu, FontCard, Labels X, Menu Master, and Xounds in the near future, and watch for something from me about Mighty Mouse."

SIGIL  I value this app a lot, but it still causes a a glitch with iPaste. It causes iPaste's contextual commands to be listed more than once. When I remove Fruitmenu the other 2-5 instances of "iPaste" and "iPaste Recent" are removed. Anyone have any solutions?

KNOWHOWE  Thanks for the update.

I don't like to have much in the way of 'add-ons' on my system but Unsanity's FruitMenu and WindowShade are exceptions.

Note that they both reproduce superb features Apple, in its 'wisdom' has done away with- a proper Apple menu and the ability to windowshade and minimise windows. Both splendid aids to productivity and efficiency I couldn't be without.

What possessed Apple to remove these features is beyond me. Thanks to Unsanity for restoring them!

I've never had a moment's bother with either incidentally.

STAR-AFFINITY  I think the reason is that it's much quicker to hide the app instead of fiddling with each window. People should use hide more and minimize less (if at all...)! :)

GBBOB  I use to use Fruit Menu until I realized what Haxies do. They put hooks into the OS so that when a system update comes up things tend to go wrong and conflicts occur. That is why I do not use FruitMenu. I you want a utility that does what FruitMenu does w/out affecting your Mac and does not need APE, get Classic Menu. It is a stand-alone application that does what FM does and more without slowing down your Mac and is not affected by updates. It has been around longer than FM and is more stable. I even found a copy that was 5 years old and it stilled worked without affecting the OS. HAXIES are nothing but a pain in the neck and I am sure there are other programs around that do the same thing as other HAXIES that are stand alone apps. Whenever updates occur, 9 out of 10 times it will be some HAXIE that will produce some type of conflict. Believe me, I was a software reviewer for my User Group and online ezines for over 20 years and I never found a HAXIE that did not cause a conflict at some point in the future. Try Classic Menu and you will see. End of line...

PS- I just want to add that I am not a developer of Classic Menu of have anything to do with the company. I am just a very satisfied user

MAC007  Yet some folks have had no problems with Unsanity's haxies at all. That has always puzzled me. I guess each user has to make the call themselves.

DOOBIEXX  long time ipaste user and never experienced any problems with fruitmenu going.

That being said, I have moved away from ipaste to launchbar and everything flows beautifully.

SIGIL  That's interesting. Well, when I have both loaded at the same time, I get duplicate (multiple) iPaste contextual menu entries.

GBBOB  If you want an application that supports multiple clipboards then DL CopyPaste Pro. It has been around since OS 9 and is the best sw on the market. I have been using it since its inception in OS 9 and never strayed from it. It too is a stand alone application and is worth every buck. End of Line...
