DESCRIPTION
Synchronize! X Plus is a personal file synchronization and backup utility. It has been re-engineered for OS X, taking advantage of the modern properties of the operating system, such as pre-emptive multitasking, and supporting the full capabilities of the file system, including 255-character Unicode file names and OS X file permissions. Files are copied at the maximum speed possible, using pre-emptive multitasking to full advantage.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 3.7:
- This update is free for anyone with a license purchased within the last two years; otherwise, a license renewal must be purchased.
- This version is compatible with Snow Leopard.
- Added a warning when older files will replace newer files. This can be turned off on the "Warnings" page of the Preferences.
- Added a setting "Check for available space before copying a file" to the "File Errors" page of the Preferences.
- Fixed a problem which could result in an error when copying a locked package.
- The Preference setting "Ask Finder to eject disks" has been removed on OS X 10.5 and later, because the Finder now presents a dialog which interrupts unattended ejection of a disk.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.2.3 or later.

DRTYRELL969 This ain't shareware folks. It's a worthless duplicate of FREE software. $30?????? Are you kidding me? Is this an IQ test? Try not to get an F on this one folks. Search on "synchronize" here at MU and find yourself a little app called "Folder Backup." Everyone thinks they deserve a million bucks without the proportionate amount of effort. You couldn't graduate high school having coded this app. $5 MAYBE. (Version 3.7)

PCHARLES67 The main attraction this application, for me, was that is is one of a very few that works with networked SMB shares. (Version 3.0)

DAGAZ I don't know where the person below is getting his ideas from, the licence specifically states: "This software reports its serial number and the name of the computer over the Internet for the purpose of ensuring license compliance. No other information is transferred and this information will not be used to contact you." I am a registered user and have had a fantastic level of support for all my queries. I think it is a really good program that has a feature set that makes it good value for money. (Version 2.5.1)

ANONYMOUS Because I don't want some company somewhere keeping tabs on what I'm doing with my computer, especially something as non-public as synchronizing my machines. I'm not denying the company's right to collect this information, by the way, and I commend them for at least informing us. All I intended to communicate is that for me it's a show-stopper, and that I'm willing to use a significantly slower program to maintain my privacy. Other potential users who don't read the small print in the license might want to know this information, and perhaps the authors of this program might change their policy sometime in the future. ANONYMOUS I recently needed an updated synchronization program, and I switched from Synchronize! X Plus (an older version) to Chronosync. Chronosync took a bit of getting used to, but it works just fine and seems to have every feature that Synchronize! X Plus has, and a few extras that are only available in the Pro version. On the other hand, it's significantly slower! So why don't I move back to Synchronize! X Plus? Because of the lunatic profit-protection feature built into current versions of this program. Every time you use it, it sends your synchronization information to the componany, Qdea! That's a privacy violation I just can't tolerate, and I suspect others can't, either. Qdea -- are you there? -- if you would just eliminate this noxious feature, you would increase your customer base and more than make up for whatever profit you think are protecting! ANONYMOUS So what you are saying is that you do not like Qdea's attempts to stop your desire for software piracy. Interesting! (Version 2.5.1)

ANONYMOUS No, I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that the method Qdea uses to protect against privacy violates my privacy -- and that I feel strongly enough about it to use a different program, even though its slower. I own lots of software, have paid for it all, have pirated nothing, and I don't own anything else that does things the way Qdea does. (Version 2.5.1)

DALE I often backup, synchronize when I am off line. Qdea gets no info during those operations. I think that you get what you pay for. (Version 3.6)

ANONYMOUS This is an excellent piece of software for synchronizing files, preferences, and settings between macs with removable media (I can't speak about other uses). I've been using it for over a year and have never lost a file or a setting. The initial set-up requires care and the user interface takes a bit of getting used to. But once it's properly set up it is absolutely reliable and it gives you complete control over which files you want to overwrite, leave alone, or delete. As far as I know there is nothing like it for keeping copies of your e-mail on different machines up-to-date. It synchronizes every change to the in-box, every attachment and sent and deleted message, rock solid every time. And the user interface has been improved in the new version so that the process is even clearer. Definitely one of the most useful pieces of software on my computers and worth every penny. ANONYMOUS Great software... I have tried a couple of packages, and this one is the quickest and the most reliable. I am a Windows->Mac convert... used to use Briefcase all of the time and this is even better than that. (Version 1.1.5)
