** N8NOE **  Exceptional Software!.. What Else can be said..

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/macloggerdx/

The Yahoo Group is Full of information and more now also.

Check it out. But for My Logging, DX-Cluster Node & Monitoring, It's about as good as it gets. Rig control for the IC-756ProIII is fine, and all the other Icoms via CI-V.

    AQTINC  OH NO!!!

I've been an avid user since version 5 (OSX) and it has been performing nicely, and the author has been making great strides to continually improve the feature set. No complaints with the software...

    ...BUT...

Rig control i now lost! After upgrading to OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard), the drivers for West Mountain Radio's RIGTalk are no longer available!! WMR does NOT support the Mac, and I'm lost as to what to do. Has anyone else discovered this problem, and is there a solution available NOW?

The software is great, but rig control is a must have, and under Snow Leopard, it is a have NOT--at least using RIGTalk.

DOGPARK  As you noted correctly, WMR does not support the Mac but a number of our users have found drivers for the RigTalk that work under 10.6. Ask on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/macloggerdx/

26CAB40  This is a fantastic piece of software, and the Author must be congratulated for making a package for the Mac that has been sorely needed.

It seems the app is updated at least twice a week !! or at least it seems that way, the only thing missing is the detail of the changes, can we please have these at the same time ?

It has happily communicated with old and new transceivers using a cheap USB-serial interface.

AQTINC  Last two releases b86 and b88 crash on load. Looks like the typical beta development cycle--squash 2 bugs and add a new one.

However, prior to that, the Cocoa interface is a HUGE step up. I've avoided that antiquated OS-9 version since about, forever. I bought the version 5.0 app immediately upon seeing it. I can hardly wait for the beta cycle to complete!!

BLUEJAY3132  I sent Don an emailed question and he responded within hours - and I'm not even a customer - yet. Sent him a thank you email, and damned if he didn't respond to that one, too. Impressive. I'll be supporting this software author, especially after reading the glowing reviews here and on other sites.

JOSHEWAH  This looks pretty nice, I just wish it had support for scanners such as those made by GRE or Uniden.

There aren't any good scanning apps for OSX.

DOGPARK  As you can see from our home page we write Macintosh software for Amateur radio not scanner enthusiasts.

MacLoggerDX will work with over a hundred Amateur radio transceivers and some HF receivers.

You should probably ask Uniden why they don't provide Mac software for the BCD996T since they do provide free PC Control/Programming software for it.

MIKE K4MTS  After reading some of the reviews here, I just have to say something. After reading many of the previous reviews, I wonder how many of these people actually use the software and are amateur radio operators. MacLoggerDX is one of the best ham radio logging programs out there, Mac or pc, period.

MacLoggerDX has more features than can be listed here. It's a fantastic amateur radio logging program. It connects to DX clusters and displays spots as they are received, looks up calls on HamCall.com and QRZ.com (or CD). MLDX aslo controls more than 50 different amateur and shortwave radios. It tracks, WAS, WAZ, DXCC, VUCC and IOTA awards. You can even use it to plot APRS packets. It also works as a contest logging program using the Contest Helper window, and so much more. It really is the Swiss Army Knife of ham software.

The developer of the software is very responsive to any requests for new features or enhancements from users. One may wonder why there are so many "betas" released. It is because (in my opinion) the developer wants to get the new features and enhancements out to those who want them as fast as possible. If you aren't interested in "beta testing", don't download the beta. The link for the latest official version is available to download from the Dog Park site.

Regarding the price, there aree a lot more expensive programs out there that don't do half of what MLDX does. Quality software costs money to develop. Larger companies could take a lesson from Dog Park's response to their customer's querries. If you don't want to spend what the developer thinks is a fair price, use a paper and pencil and stop complaining.

LIC. SINCE 1989  The logging I use is FREE!..

    http://www.dl2rum.de/rumsoft/

But the Idea of all the Features is, NOT everyone wants all of them, If there were a "Lite" version at let's say Less50, In my opinion would be very nice to use. I have used it a few times for the 5Min time limit, and it is very Nice. BUT, NetDXCluster is FREE, RUMtrol, RUMped, are all FREE, and work well also. As for APRS, I see NO REASON to have my logging Track APRS?.. I have been running APRS for Some time, and to me this is a WHY?..E-Mailing QSL's, No WAy to back the Memmories in the Radio up, and a few other things are why I think a Lite Version might be good?..

ANONYMOUS  Am I reading this right? Are we doing reviews on Beta software -- software intended to give users a glimpse at what might be coming in future general availability (GA) releases?

I'm a _very_ happy user of MacLoggerDX and I'll be happy to review (again) any GA release. The review will be easy to spot: it will be GLOWING!
