ANONYMOUS  The e-mail request for a demo license is such a pain that I'm not going to bother (and I'm probably going to purchase 30-50 seats of a similar app).

ANONYMOUS  I haven't tried this product, but you can get basic functionality for free at:

http://www.bluem.net/downloads/pdftotext_en/

which is a compiled version of:

BCWINTERS  I'm not sure why the other reviewer was not able to get this to work. You just drop it in the Applications folder and it automatically gets added as a Service.

I was also very easily able to add new steps to the PDF workflow to extract text from a print job using this utility. This is extremely handy in programs like FileMaker which do not offer full export abilities -- now you can easily email a "printed" exported text file with fully summarized and calculated data along with text fields and merge fields, instead of being limited to just exporting fields. This is extremely handy and solves a problem many (well... maybe not MANY) OS X users have had since upgrading from OS 9 -- the loss of PrinttoPICT and its "print to a text file" capabilities.

It is perhaps a little expensive for what amounts to a one-trick pony, but I use it at work every day and feel it was worth it. It silently saves me tons of frustration and makes my database work way easier.
