DESCRIPTION

FileRenamer is used to change file names of items contained within a selected folder. There are several ways by which file names may be changed. One way is by using sequence numbers preceded with an optional string. Another way is by using find and replace rules for unwanted strings and characters. And still another way is to write your own name changer AppleScript that FileRenamer calls. The file extensions may be changed or left alone. Written in AppleScript Studio.

	Jan 31 2004	ANONYMOUS I don't think so! No drag and drop... essential for utilities like this. Prefix does not operate as you would expect it to. A prefix is just that, a prefix. For example, if I have a folder of files that I want to add "as" to the beginning of each filename (as in a folder full of applescripts) I should be able to put "as" in the prefix field and no numbers in the number fields to accomplish this but it insists on numbering things. The background picture is a bit superfluous since you can't see it. (Version 0.98)		+1

REPLYTOANON Drag and Drop would be nice, but it is *free*, as opposed to the fancier utilities.

	Apr 21 2004	G4-1GHZ-512MBRAM Application suffers performance problems and sometimes just hangs when working with large number of files - greater than 1000. Author needs to look a this issue. Other quirky behavious such as prefix should also be fixed. Could be a very useful app. One feature that I was looking forward to was the ability to sequence both numerically and alphabetically.
