DOUG ENGELBART  USB Overdrive is still the best mouse driver ever. I'm using it since 2003 to create user-efficient mousekey settings for all my workflow applications, helper apps and games. There has never been any problem with it.

Now just one thing:

Today I wanted to define a new Overdrive mousekey setting for Firefox 3.5b4 and 3.5rc1, but after clicking "New" both app files are not selectable (grey) in the file dialog list. How can this be? Any suggestions? (With FF3.0.11 and all other apps there's no problem at all.)

RONL  I'm chagrined.

After an extremely quick response by the author (Alessandro) my perceived troubles evaporated.

This software continues to run circles around the other mouse drivers.

Believe me I've tried them.

I just tried SteerMouse and it does not compare to USB Overdrive.

Often when attempting to see what button I was attempting to map in SM the corresponding button in the SM preference window would not even highlight! And __often__ once I thought I had finally managed to map a button... after a restart or awakening... the mapping would be gone. Also some features were far more limited in what you could map the tilt wheel to do.

Not so with USBOD.

The mapped commands remain.

I've been using this software for many years and should have realized that it must have been something simple to fix and contacted Alessandro before writing my last comment a few days ago.

The reason why he doesn't post more updates... simple... he doesn't have to... it just works!

EXCELLENT software.

RONL  Too bad this app is no longer being updated (or at least it hasn't been for quite a while).

It was excellent, but now it doesn't appear to recognize the buttons on my Logitech MX Revolution and the Logitech Control Center software is such a crippled/limited/buggy joke that I have had to start using SteerMouse.

It's really too bad because I've been using USBOD for so many years and it has previously performed beautifully.

CALL ME YO DADDY  USB Overdrive is truly a gem for the Mac community. The sensitivity levels in Apple's Mighty Mouse is absolutely horrible. It often feels like the mouse is being dragged thru mud. Why Apple has chosen this behavior with no way to increase sensitivity levels is mind boggling.

The Mighty Mouse is a good mouse overall but USB Overdrive makes it perfect. I was using a Microsoft mouse which was ok but right clicking was glitchy and Microsoft no longer supports that mouse on a Mac.

I'd like to thank the developer for this and I will definitely purchase this. The only thing I would like to see improved is being able to adjust the speed of the scroll ball. Right now I am using the mouse at 180 dpi which is fast but has made the scroll ball too fast. Other than that everything else seems to be just fine.

SATYRICA  Current version 10.4.8 is a little long in the tooth...

With each new OS update, my functionality is getting

glitchier and glitchier.

As previously mentioned, prefs and status of Apple's

Mighty Mouse is now broken, and I'm also noticing

choppy mouse movement after the last Apple security

update...

Is this software dead? Where is the dev??

MACINEN  Excellent so far, but couple of bugs with version 10.4.8: If you have wireless Mighty Mouse the System Preferences stops showing the charge of the mouse. Another one is that with Logitech V470 (bluetooth) mouse the clicked wheel scroll (up or down) doesn't work; Overdrive doesn't recognize it. Waiting for an update for this otherwise great driver.

STORMWATCH  Excellent. Recognized my "generic cheapo gamepad" flawlessly, and it's easier to configure than other similar apps.

ROCKO  I have had several logitech devices and usually they look good but the software is not up to snuff, particularly with macs. They have been improving lately with their mice, but joystick and pad support has always been nonexistent. USBoverdrive has given me more control in OSX over these devices. I'm currently running it with the wireless logitech MX1000 laser mouse, and a logitech extreme 3d pro joystick with no issues. I've also used it on other logitech mice and an intellimouse in the past. This is on a PPc Tiger 10.4.11.
