JOSHEWAH  This app still works, and with the isync conduits enabled I can sync with ical... However, this is the only application still life on my system that is PPC only. No wonder Palm is doing so badly. They can't update their own OS, and they can't update their software.

I now use Daylite instead of this ancient app.

Why?

No update for more than 2 years.

No Intel or UB version.

MIKE  G4 Yikes! running Mac OS X Panther 10.3.9

I ran the installer under sudo (using the util Pseudo), as has been suggested to address some problems with syncing. A previous version I'd installed and used on another system would come up with frequent and vague errors on launch that would cause it to quit; so I wanted to see what the installer would do with better access to the system files.

Well, it took away my permission to modify the Applications folder, the root of the boot disk, the home folder, etc. I was still able to run Disk Utility, so I fixed the permissions, and all seems normal, and the program is working well.

Since I installed it in a non-standard way, I'll refrain from rating the installer/program, but it does seem undeniably more problematic an install than most.

MLEIII  So now, Palm Desktop 4.2.1 Rev. D works with my Treo 600 but kills support for my Tungsten E.

Anyone else have this problem........

SJK  To claim they "devised a more elegant fix" is ridiculous since the only change was simply deleting and modifying a couple lines in the postflight script. It still overzealously changes file and group permissions on everything under /Application Support/Palm Desktop, including conduits it has no business touching. And it still does dumb things like write temporary files in your home directory instead of /tmp and leaves a loc.txt behind. It's begging for a rewrite, which I'd do myself if I ever need to run the installer again. Really, my only reason for installing Palm Desktop was for the Note Pad app and conduit, which in hindsight would have been better to extract and install separately. I already use Missing Sync for syncing.

ANONYMOUS  After installing 4.2.1 Rev C on OX 10.4, the About Palm Desktop menu still indicates I have version 4.2.1. Shouldn't it somehow indicate Rev C? Also, am I correct in assuming that the Send to Handheld droplet for adding MP3s and other files (I have Treo 650) is *still* not functioning despite Palm's continued claims to be working on it?

MLE  Before I mess up my system again (G4 Sawtooth, 10.4.2 / Palm Desktop 4.1, Treo 600 - GSM version with the latest firmware) has anyone tried this with the Treo 600?

I had to downgrade from 4.2.1 to 4.1 when I replaced a Tungsten E with a Treo 600 as the former would not work with the Treo. Does this?

I'd really LOVE to replace PD with iSync/AddressBook/iCal but I really need the Memo Pad App. Also, I'd like the option to have "Handheld overrides Macintosh" or Macintosh overrides Handheld" instead of just "Synchronize" which is all iSync supports.

DRG  Any help appreciated: I'm using a Tungsten E with Palm 4.2.1 Rev A under Tiger. Should I upgrade to Rev C? Palm doesn't list the Tungsten E as compatible, only the E2. Yet Palm says the Rev C is for Tiger users.
