Quicken for Mac helps you save, invest and track your profits in minutes. Express Account Setup makes it faster and easier to set up new accounts in your Quicken software, while exclusive tools help you minimize taxes, manage your investments and track your home inventory. Built exclusively for the Mac, Quicken works with iCal and iPhoto, so Mac customers can make better use of special Mac OS X features.

This issue has been resolved.

- Tax rates used in the Tax Planner have been updated.

SIGIL Just try it! It's a Windows program on Mac 'nuff said... I don't even use it anymore. Use Quicken Online; it's actually pretty good. (Version R2)

SUPER_A Seriously this application is a complete joke. Don't waste your money buying it, it's not hard to find. (Version R2)

DELTA FARCE Ugh. This software is garbage. I think this is the most-hated major app on the Mac. (Version R2)

MRBALL This program does not download data properly. Intuit wants to charge you for text support to fix this program. This is outrageous since text support can't fix it. They refuse to admit that it does not work properly on the mac. They also don't want to bother to fix the bugs. (Version R2)

PAUL92 Despite everyone's whining, Quicken is still the most comprehensive package and essential if you do anything other than just your checkbook. I cannot remember the last time Quicken crashed on me. Although I find the interface works well for me, I would like to see a more standard (perhaps one piece) interface, a PDA application that was not third party, and iPod integration. I would also like to see a better upgrade path. Right now I refuse to pay every year for the minimal upgrades. In fact I have not bought a copy since 2005 because I got one free with my new Mac. I am not sure whether 2007 really offers a lot of upgrade value for the price, but I will probably upgrade in 2008. (Version )

MWHOGAN Have tried several times now to apply the R6 update, only to wait and wait and wait for the 14 files to be installed with no success. I've confirmed that I have Quicken 2006 R5 but the installer just doesn't seem to want to install. Nothing happens and the rest of my system gets bogged down to virtually locked up until I stop the installation process, which apparently does nothing whatsoever to my existing R5 program. Anyone have a suggestion? (Version R6)

BRUCE WISZ I have tried to download the R6 update from Macupdate and Versiontracker and all I get is: Safari canÕt open the page. Safari canÕt open the page Òftp://ftp.quicken.com/pub/quicken/Qkn_2006_R6_Updater.hqxÓ. The error was: Òunknown errorÓ (NSURLErrorDomain:-1) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message. Anyone know how to d/l the update? (Version R6)

MACUPDATE ADMIN Have you enabled 'passive' mode for FTP in Network preferences under the Proxies tab? The download is from an Intuit FTP server... (Version R6)
| Feb 7 2007 |
BRUCE WISZ I looked in Preferences for Safari and under Network in System Preferences and didn't see anything like what you suggested. (Version R6)
| Feb 7 2007 |
MACUPDATE ADMIN No, System preferences. System Preferences: Network: Proxies tab. (Version R6)
| Feb 7 2007 |
MACUPDATE ADMIN I am running OS X 10.4.8, you may be running a different version, may have the setting somewhere else. It does exist though. (Version R6)
| Feb 7 2007 |
BRUCE WISZ I also am on 10.4.8, but can't find it. Thanks for your efforts tho. (Version R6)
| Feb 7 2007 |
MACUPDATE ADMIN Ok, go to System Preferences, select 'Network'. Then in the Network prefs window, select your network connection (Show: Built-in Ethernet, in my case) Then click on the Proxies tab. See near the bottom of the window, "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" That box should be "checked". (Version R6)
| Feb 7 2007 |
BRUCE WISZ It worked. Thanks. Now my question is - should I leave it checked all the time and if so, what possible ramifications could it have? (Version R6)
| Feb 7 2007 |
MACUPDATE ADMIN All this does is allow ftp transactions to play nice with your OS X firewall (firewall is enabled by default). Should leave it checked all the time, no worries whatsoever. (Version R6)

WJB3WVU QuickEntry widget is great when it works, but it's always loosing track of my data file, and then it becomes useless. Contacting Intuit is absurd. There is virtually no free telephone support, even for new purchases, and their "chat" feature makes me wonder whether any of them speak English, let alone are they able to help. Emails to them return useless advice. Setting up online accounts is cumbersome, and without support from Intuit you must reley on the institution you're setting up the account with. They can be much more valuable than Intuit themselves. (Version R2)
