THEBRIX2008  It's a great pity Vektor3 appears to be no longer updated - the copy I downloaded from Schubert IT is not even a Universal Binary - because the user interface is the best by a mile.

I just had a look at the new Shredder Chess 4, saw the same old clunky Java behaviour, and decided not to put forward my upgrade fee. As a reasonably good player, no more, I am willing to trade off a lot of the chess engine's playing strength for a proper OS X application!

SANS DIEU RIEN  This program is more intuitive than many others that are far more expensive. The user interface is elegant and clean. The preferences allow for greater visibility of the pieces, with various board features: French, American, Russian; standard, shadow, outline; marble, wood, diagram, etc. The print out is where Vektor shines; it includes custom inserts of diagrams within the PGN format. Although ELO is somewhat controversial, it would be nice to have a feature that gauges the program's and player's ELO, otherwise, the player is at the mercy of adjusting Depth, Time, Blitz, Adaptive, and Tournament. If you want to pay more for a chess program, there are plenty vying for your money (currently, Dennis Monokroussos, one of my favorite contemporary players, leans toward Shredder). However, if you just want to play and print chess games for analysis, you can't beat Vektor.

GRYPHONENT  Great game... though after two years I’d have expected an update. Without knowing this is still in active development I won’t bite.

THRILLSEEKER  Great! My favourite Chess Application. Highly customizable engine, a lot of professional features,

and a clean interface.

Take a look at the help database - it includes a very nice introduction into the basic rules of chess :)

NATHAN  I won't rate this, since I'm not much of a chess player and most of the options and features are beyond me, but this is a smooth and gorgeous game.

ANONYMOUS  The best OS X chess I've seen. Rich in features, nice unobtrusive style, and a great improvement over GNU Chess in the official GUI version for X.

Congratulations!
