DESCRIPTION
Trash X is a fully functional trashcan for Mac OS X. Extremely simple to use, it functions just like the classic Mac OS Trashcan - files and folders dropped on it are moved to the trash, and disks droppped on it are ejected. In addition, it also features numerous functions for the power user. You can use it to instantly delete or shred file and folders without sending them to the trash. You can use it to empty or shred trash only on selected disks. And of course, you can use it just like the trashcan you've always had on your desktop. Trash X is completely safe and it requires no system hacks or Terminal command line voodoo. Place an alias or copy of it on your desktop, in your documents folder, or anywhere else you wish. COOL TIP: Put Trash X in your Finder windows toolbar to have easy access to it in any folder.

LEO OF BORG  Some people don't know how to read, either. At the NS web page, there is a -deal- where you can get TrashX + Panther Cache Cleaner for $9.90. _THIS_ deal gives them a 5 for value.

PCC -is- worth that price alone, and getting an app that does multiple pass shredding?? Sheesh, that's icing on the cake. TrashX is not pretty, but what it does it does very well.

Sure, TrashX is a one-trick pony, and the NS people know that. They add value where they can and then charge us the price of 3 Grande Lattes at Starbucks. Please keep this in perspective and don't gripe about developers who have clue.

LIBERATEME  Completely a waste of money. The only feature it has is that you can "shred" a document, most homes don't need that feature, so save the $.

JACK REPENNING  What silly reviews these are! TrashX is not replacable by "a symlink to ~/.Trash" or similar, it has significant extra value, such as "empty things from the trash after they've been there for longer than XXX."

Annoyingly, it always refuses to run after a system update. Updated versions that work in the new OS are always available immediately (by the time I update), but the necessity is tiresome.

ANONYMOUS  And they will continue to be tiresome inasmuch as this is a poorly designed application. You never never never go after unofficial APIs. Some people want to make a quick buck or have fifteen nanoseconds of fame, so they cheat - and who are the losers? The users they've fooled.

ICEQUBE  why pay for this when all you need is a symlink to "~/.Trash" ?

its really easy to do this, simply open the terminal and type the following:

ln -s ~/.Trash ~/Desktop/Trash

that will create a folder named "Trash" on your desktop. This folder will point to your trash can. you can move this trash folder anywhere to your hard disk, and it will always point to your trash can.
