JEEPEE  Micromat recommends TechTool Pro 4 for Tiger on their page with information on Drive 10.

Drive 10 is not so bad, but when you're using Tiger or higher, use TechTool Pro 4 instead!

L66  WARNING: This time (v1.1.5) the message "Drive 10 should be updated" should be taken seriously under Tiger. Drive 10 still works with Tiger, but has difficulties unmounting volumes, which can cause it to write a replacement directory structure to a mounted volume which obviously leads to an even more corrupt disk. Use with care, or wait for an update.

Of course a boot CD with an older OS X version still works fine.

JEEPEE  Micromat recommends TechTool Pro 4 instead of Drive 10 when it comes to Tiger.

Be careful with Drive 10 on Tiger.

ANONYMOUS  With a fresh Tiger installation, complete with Xcode and the CHUD tools, travelling appeared "no worky" on my Powerbook 17" (1GHz/1GB).

Travelled - needed disk utility an d Disk Warrior to get it back to life.

    Travelled - same story.

Decided to run Drive 10 to get it fixed and be able to further troubleshoot.

    Drive 10 is s-l-o-w.

Scanning the drive took from 8 last night until... well, I went to bed at 1 a.m. and it was far from finished. So I don't really know.

My 60GB disk is in the repairing stage since this morning early. We're now some 13 hours underway. Now Task 5 of 6, step 3.343.345 of 4,749,657.

IF I'm lucky, I might expect it to finish with this task somewhere after 18+ hours from start repair.

    Seriously.. then it's 30 hours+ underway.

    The I hope

    - that everything is recovered properly

    - all possible bad blocks are flagged

    - all remaining blocks are tested good

If Drive 10 can do all that.

If not, going for my backup and doing an Archive & Install is the way out. Saves me at least in excess of 28 hours compared with Drive 10.

And it gets more tempting by the hour.

ANONYMOUS  Disk Warrior 3.0.2 could not fix my start-up disk after I had installed Tiger (error 2155, "directory too severly damaged"). However, I tried Drive 10 1.1.5 and it worked like a charm. Although it took nearly 1 1/2 hours, it was worth it. Drive 10 and Disk Warrior are the perfect companions for each other because one alone cannot fix all your problems. I recommend that you have both.

    *½...

IBYRON  Horribly slow. Over four hours(!) just to fix the volume catalog on a 20 MB drive. This on a 1.3 GHz machine with 640 MB of RAM. A low-level format shouldn't take that long. And the whole time, the computer is unavailable.
