DANA SUTTON There was a time when I used Transmit and thought it the best available FTP client. But I manage a large and complex Web site that changes content almost daily, and wanted a FTP client that could schedule automatic uploads like a piece of file synchronization software. I wrote to the developer suggesting he add this feature. Next to no interest, he made it clear that this just wasn't on his agenda. Along comes Yummy, a very similar-looking app. in the same price range, but with more features, including scheduled synchronization. I liked it, but didn't like the primitive logging/notification system it had at the time. So I contacted its author, and the next build was rewritten to be Growl-friendly, which took care of that problem. I had some other problems with the implementation of scheduling and the developer was very eager to work with me to iron them out. And that's the difference, folks. A developer who is willing to listen to users, give them what they ask for, and work with them to improve his product pretty soon comes up with better software. Yummy is better than Transmit, and is getting more so all the time for precisely this reason.
